  1. Not necessary all spring related, but a few recent photos taken in spring.
  2. I get that fairly often on the milling bars. Regular dressing. bearing in mind that when milling you are flat out for as long as needed to get through the whole log and that is a lot more wearing than cross cuts. Additionally even when the chain is on tight it still manages to stretch when it gets hot so its doing some moving during the milling process. And as above you are potentially dealing with more dirt and grit during milling. In my humble opinion that's what I would think does it. Although I could be completely wrong and potentially talking a lot of balderdash.
  3. Nice, do you make cladding with the band saw? Can you? Have you made the whole bike shed from timber you milled? Might be silly questions. Haven't used a bandsaw mill, so wouldn't know. But at some stage later in life, I'm sure I will be investing in one (maybe in the next year or so...).
  4. It’s a corker! Who took the photos?
  5. Nice straight beech carried on with it.
  6. Crikey! any idea what your going to do with slabs that size? Enormous
  7. From past experience with blue cedar. Depending on how much growth is on the end of that branch could cause failure, but that close to the main stem, may not be an issue. Hard to tell from that photo. Have seen many lateral branches fail with too much weight on them with cedars. Though use of cobra or cable has certainly seemed to lessen that problem. But others might have more experience on the subject. That’s my two pennies worth.
  8. Grows as a tree. Great as a hedge too. Will grow pretty big over time but does well with good reduction. Shoots back pretty quick.
  9. No, only started tonight. With some fair gusts. Don't know what all the fuss is about..... Watched the Michael fisher weather report again tonight, just in case.
  10. Did a few boards today.
  11. Magnolia Grandiflora is pretty good as trees/large shrubs and gets going pretty quick once it's settled in. Griselinia is good too.
  12. Nice looking long bow. Poor bunnies. Lol!
  13. Fair enough...
  14. Yeah the one good thing is the use of a rail system which does take a lot of effort out of the milling. But its a little quirky.
  15. Sounds like fun....... Lots of sawdust I imagine but no fumes.
  16. Why couldn't it work with the two chinese saw heads?
  17. Ouch! ☹️
  18. Yes that's right. The bars it comes with are 1.5 metres long, I got some steel 3 metres long to do longer but not so heavy logs. Its okay. But I would much prefer a logosol F2. If you have time and a good spot to sit it, then it works alright. It is a little bit toy really, I have tried to get to like it, but for heavy timber its really not what you need.
  19. Was thinking that. Who uses long bows these days?
  20. Did a quick number on some small yew as a trial.
  21. What’s the mill? Norwood or something? [emoji106] Be good to see what you do with the timber once done.
  22. Finished off the Sorbus.
  23. Bit of milling from the last few days. Bit of 1 metre by 6’ spalted beech and old Sorbus with some nice colours.
