  1. Any pics? I know what they look like, just never seen a blue one!?
  2. Bottom pic looks like Norway maple from the leaves, acer platanoides drummondii
  3. Out of the three ideas I floated, I think you picked the better!
  4. Square bales? A fat kid? Sheep? All will work in theory.. If you can find some fairly loosely baled hay or straw it should do the trick. Sand might not be as shock absorbing as you would imagine. Heavy too..
  5. None of the above? You left the best one off the list. Schliesing. And if you're going to that expense, as mick suggested, get a larger capacity, even if you still only chip six inches, it's not maxing out the machine and youll be getting the job done faster. Tp do very good chippers too, not sure if theres a tracked one... if I had to choose one of the above I think I'd go for the gm
  6. Olearia
  7. Oleria traversii
  8. 75x45 here, I'd stay small if bagging heavier, denser hardwoods. Could go bigger if bagging dry softwood.. is it for private customers or forecourts? Ease of lifting and size probably matters more to retailers than private buyers. The first time I contacted my current bag supplier, they sent me a sample of their 5 most commonly used log nets. It might be worth contacting a couple of packaging providers, get your hands on a few nets and figuring out what size suits you, how they stack on a pallet, how visible the product is in the bag, quality of the net itself and tie string etc..
  9. Have to disagree re the injection, half the attraction is that smell of partially burnt fuel, coupled with that growly burble on idle.. you just dont get that with injection. Big, thirsty, unreliable, fiddly carbs all the way! Wouldn't mind power steering though!
  10. It's on my wishlist too... never even sat inside one, but I want one since I first saw one. Beautiful machines. Might go bigger than 7 ltr though!
  11. Second for vistaprint, by far best value and quality is good, I've used them for business cards and 'flyers' that we use in log and kindling bags (species, moisture cont., supplier details etc)
  12. One that's making a good profit on the gravel!
  13. You get em in Thailand, cultural thing I think.
  14. Beech, beech, bonfire, habitat pile! Jokes aside I think pic 3 has some pine and mostly ash and pic 4 ash, pine and/or spruce.
  15. One of the best heat output per ton of any wood once sufficiently dry.
  16. It is nice! Way easier to operate than a larger machine and will go anywhere. sadly, no. It's not mine, yet. Had it onsite for a few days. Hoping to strike a deal with the current owner as he wants to upgrade at the end of this year. (Not sure I'd get the work to justify its cost, not that that's stopped me before!) I can forward you the current owners details if you want to use it on a job, he is sligo based and reasonable to deal with.
  17. 172 bags of firewood (90×90×90cm), 9 bags of saw chip and a few long days, thankfully split between two. been up to a few other bits too..
  18. Few bags of ash cut recently
  19. Now bolt on a 24 hp Briggs, upgrade the bearings and you'll have a proper chipper like this one! No more spoon feeding.
  20. I want these buyer's details.. I've got a lovely seaside parcel of land to sell while the tide is out. Saying that, I've sold plenty of loads of rings from the yard, some mixed loads of rings and lengths too, it has a value to some people I guess. I give away sawmill offcuts, it amazes me the effort some people put into getting something for free..
  21. They turn into trip hazards, creeping out across the paths when you're not looking!
  22. Pig manure can be high in phosphorus. It could be that. If its nitrogen, just cultivating the soil once or twice may release enough.
  23. Dale kane are worth a look, bit heavier than an ifor or brian James, but really well built. The lad that does some small scale forestry extraction for me hauls his vimek on one and an ex employer ran a few of them. They seem very happy with them. My next (very overdue)3.5 ton plant trailer will probably be dk.
  24. Had an osatu years back. Leaky, uncomfortable and poor coverage. Wouldn't waste your money, go for cp or berthoud.
  25. Careful now, sounds like you'll end up spending your money on a hoe instead! I hear the dutch ones are good...
