  1. Yeah I've ended up scraping with the screwdriver end of a combi spanner before , would be nice if it was easier.
  2. Looks rare, so probably collectable to the right person. @shavey might know more?
  3. Maybe can't whack according to the book, but it's been done before so you need a plan to work with what you've got and keep customer happy. I think I'd be looking to remove the biggest sprouts back to the pollard points, what's left reduce a bit to try to create a shape out of them. This is what I'm suggesting to a magnolia I've just quoted, which has been pollarded in the past and put on a mass of 6 and 8 foot upright sprouts, totally ruined the form really. It's that, whack back to a hat rack, totally leave, or remove.
  4. She is smiling as if she's been hard at it going up and down all morning.
  5. I looked up the Harlequin style. Sorry, I take it all back. WTF.
  6. Are you absolutely totally sure the boots aren't the same, and you're turning into a grumpy ol' bugger? This is what I fear is happening to me.
  7. Superclean good on a Silky then? May have to try it.
  8. I think there's one round here, he'll pick up loads of timber with it. Not enough volume for chip, they're designed more for soil or sand.
  9. Yeah good point, need to check.
  10. Yes you're not supposed to just knock up trailers nowadays like we used to. Stuart's in France though, bound to be even more paperwork but maybe people don't bother.
  11. I've used white spirit before. The Stihl stuff looks like a proper can for £6 in the picture but actually it's only 50ml - not tried it at that price but am curious. 12. Seems to depend on the weight but these will be decent at £120+, just noticed Stubby called them indespension units, my dad has always called them that. Trick might be to find some that fit your wheels else you'd be in for wheels and tyres on top. Indespension 350kg Stub Axle Unbraked Suspension Unit Complete With HU004 | Indespension INDESPENSION.CO.UK A pair of Indespension original suspension units with a 350kg capacity (rated per pair) complete...
  13. I read this yesterday and happened to be in the car on the way home when Sara Cox had some people phone in. Painful. Just painful.
  14. How will you chip it? I guess if you get someone like Justin Kingwell in to chip they'll know the best way to move it on.
  15. Turns out to be a 4 way tipper......
  16. Rubber trailer suspension. https://www.peakdynamics.co.uk/products/product-overview.aspx?pid=5eb14560-47f6-4fcc-84ac-66d25865695f
  17. I'd be interested if you go ahead and get it through planning. My feeling is the tree will be fine, willows stand an enormous amount of abuse above ground and sprout back. The RPA is obviously standardised and not right for every tree anyway, some roots will be outside that but there's plenty of room for it to seek water in the rest of the lawn.
  18. Aren't working visas for Aus, NZ Canada easier when under 30? Fly now while you still can!
  19. True, but either way it's their decision, you just need to get them on site to advise.
  20. You need to talk to your DNO (distribution network operator), they will probably suggest a shutdown. This depends on your area, round here UKPN and if you go on their website there's a section on tree trimming. Live working is another whole kettle of fish requiring qualifications, network approvals, different insurance etc etc - not happening for the likes of me and you.
  21. Man that'd have a hell of a shake, imagine that going off as you pull the ring!
  22. To me joining would probably make sense anyway, have to be hell of a thickness to hold flat at 1.2m wide so going to weigh half a ton. Guess you could try to find something like cedar, be a bit lighter than oak or ash.
  23. I'd buy a tacho, not super expensive, in fact probably cheaper than a service from a dealer. I bought one so I could be confident what's going on, it's worked well.
  24. Fair enough, I'll think of something else to spend £160 on for fun. Or just pay van tax and insurance.
  25. I was looking earlier and turns out a Husqvarna 120 is only £160 so I guess they wanted something to compete on price with that. The 120 is 38cc and 1.4kW though so chunk more power and roller tip bar. I'm tempted to get one just for fun, so cheap.
