  1. This may help you http://thebakeliteradio.com/sawspares.com/Stihl 028AV IPL.pdf edit, although I’ve just noticed the link that spud gave earlier. Has the same file at the bottom of the page before the pic. and I could be wrong, I thought serial numbers starting with numbers equaled to where they were manufactured. 1 eu/ Germany 2 USA 3 Brazil and I can’t remember if there was a 4
  2. Should start 1, 2 or 3 ..... 4 umm I don’t remember that number. I’m not saying anymore, but I think spud knows what I’m saying.
  3. The chain of events can really and truly only be known by the council and big”bad”ben123 😬 I can only hope for Ben, that the council are slack as he says they are. Otherwise he maybe taking another mortgage out to pay the fine 👍🤣
  4. I was busy yesterday, big long log that was on other logs that were on a bank. so I had to come up with a way to mill it in safe way (the log was very stable whole). And couldn’t be cut it in half as it would have rolled/moved and I had no way of moving it it was aprox 6mt long and wider than my 29.5 inch cut on my 660. however the 660 suffered and somehow seized on the 3rd/4th cut, so I was left with my 461 and the 36” bar to finish it. Once the log was more of a manageable size and moveable once cut in half the last cuts were done Slow and worth it 😉 the pictures speak for themselves larger bottom 2” thick, 29” wide. smaller top part 2.5 “ thick although the union was still 28” wide at the top
  5. Yeh I thought that at the time,,, when he said to Al, those are for Gobby-P 😉

    Jokes???

    Your tellin Porkies 1987 😂
  7. And you got your money back, I guess you should leave it at that. 😉
  8. It’s 20\25 miles for me, shame I’m not interested in most of it. it will be interesting watching the prices rise on some of the items. Although some stuff will go for a song as the removing & relocation of it will be the biggest cost.
  9. There’s many things you can do, but the main thing is not to purposely kill them. so my advice would be fell the stem, ie the wind does blow over trees at times , normally at night is best. The bees will be pissed an out it but should be able to find the home ( although there is a rule in keeping bees don’t move the hive more than 3 ft. But you can move it more than 3 miles, the bees will reorientate to the new home. So fell the stem on a cold day when the bees are not flying, or just be for dusk. so you got the stem on the floor and the bees are happy going in and out. Then you need a beekeeper to remove the colony into a hive. or you take the log with bees in to the place, more than 3 miles away. but if you look at your area there should be a local bee club that has a swarm collection part. you need to contact them and ask them to help.. you should be able to get someone, and they will be able to guide you in all the scenarios that are possible. And the timings involved. A crane would make it simpler thou. if you need any more help. Just ask I can advise you on possible things as I’ve been a beekeeper for more than 15yrs I’m in Brighton. Edit,, you can’t really start poking things down in there front door of there home and them not answer you with a mass gathering of sharp pointy things sticking out of there butts 😉😂
  10. I was gonna add . Lopro on a 661 cross cutting is not as hard on the chain thus thus sprocket. So if it goes pop I guess you could argue the point with GB bars and for the record. Here it is manufacturers recommend this for the 660 so I guess it’s for the 661 https://m.stihlusa.com/WebContent/CMSFileLibrary/SawChainSelection-6.pdf
  11. @Rich Rule That’s cool you said that, it’s people like that, that give a lot of other people a bad reputation. I can’t remember where I read it, but some hs guy on the railway picked up on a very little hole in a mesh visor, and he pushed his pen through it, and said this could be a bit of wood that hits you in the eye. the guy who’s helmet it was spoke out and said I wear glasses, but he still had to get the spare helmet out. Bloody jobs worth hs guy, and yes the stickers tell you a lot of things if you know wtf the symbols mean. anyhow ported saws are great, just don’t knock it till you tried one.👍
  12. I think you missed the “inch” bit . 👍 bendy,,, 3 inch plus tops so I’m guessing if 5kg each that’s 200. but wanted to be sure 😉
  13. I,d be only looking for 1 ton, would you do just a ton ? roughly how many poles would that be as I’m not sure how many I could fit on my trailer. happy to discuss more via pm cheers.
  14. Abit more stink is ok ........cos I smell anyway, 🤫
  15. The thing is the longer the bar the bigger the percentage of chain stretch. Another thing to take into consideration is the temp of the bar as it will keep the chain warm. I think the real thing is knowing how tight you can tighten it, then know when it’s to slack it and let it cool back down. There’s many ways to do something, it’s just up the the person to figure it out their best recipe I,m sure theirs a saying like.....to many cooks, also not reading between the lines 😉
  16. That was a good old thread on kerfs, and as some pointed out a new chain has a bigger kerf due to the teef being bigger. anyhow I’ve been giving this thread some mor thought and time. Lots of interesting things have been said.. I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelers, but although I’ve said the the rivets maybe the culprit and a few other things. I,m looking back and It’s really a case of big saw lots of power and a few errors, that would normally go unnoticed with bigger chain and bar. But put the smaller chain and thinner bar in the equation to save a bit of wood and make it a bit quicker it didn’t mix with not being careful.. what ever level of careful enough that is idk. i,m gonna see if anything new comes to this thread. But until then it’s best to stick with the bigger chain stuff, also maybe skip or hyper skip chain. cheers 👍
  17. Ported saws are a fad,, there loud and smelly . Abit like me 😂
  18. Ahh no worries there , just happy it’s working as it should.👊👍
  19. Yes it’s like 😬🙈
  20. Wedges .... are you guys using wedges behind the cut....that would put more drag on the chain and thus on the nose.. I’m still wondering why GB only used 4 rivets on the nose when other bigger bars (edit that used bigger chains) made by GB use more rivets. Eg 5 or 6 .. (same edit, other manufactures use varying amounts of rivets on there bars)
  21. I will say All 261 , have an adjustable oil pump. Look on the underside. and read your owners manual, if you haven’t got one the you could download one from stihl. Page 41 ....here https://m.stihlusa.com/webcontent/cmsfilelibrary/instructionmanuals/stihl-ms-261-c-m-owners-instruction-manual.pdf I'm starting to wonder. If ...... you have ever read a stihl manual and know all pro saws have adjustable oilers. 🤦‍♂️
  22. I sent you a message, with the 261 manual, it’s really the same as all the other manuals. But I guess if you’ve not done it before..I . just use a bit of old starter cord in the spark plug hole to lock the engine and take the clutch off. one other thing are you sure the adjustable flow is turned up to the max on the pump ?
  23. Yes,, I agree.. well almost ... I’m still wondering on the rivets and an over tight chain,,, although things will be slimmer, ie nose sprocket and bearings. They should be in spec.. what ever that spec is.. it could just be those rivets giving up due to over tightened chain with the powa of the 880/881 it pulled the rivets.. it would be good to hear if any 660/1 owners have had similar probs just due to the fact it’s got less powa. But the rivets could be a different batch. Has anyone been lucky and not had a lopro bar on a 880/1 go pop . ive said before it could be operator error, it could still be. But not having much to go on means the Variable is the unknown and this is the operators Maybe the batches of some parts of products are poor quality. The only people that will really know are the people that have all the pieces .. all we have to go on are pictures of destruction.. yrs ago we wouldn’t have had the Internet to discuss these things, so I,m sure it gets frustrating for some . But it helps us all in the end 🤔. Honestly 😉
  24. Well according to a quick google and a website with pics it looks like 1 https://www.motors.co.uk/car-58375469/?i=0&m=sscp but I guess the cops are just gonna be lame and say gdp so can’t tell you anything. Here’s your crime ref. as it’s not high priority 🤬 Then the owners could say it’s been stolen or sold to joe bloggs..etc or it’s parked in park somewhere..
  25. He paid, and ultimately paid the price. And he,s not the first if you google it. But on another note I’m glad my hormones settled down otherwise my cock would have got me killed 😂.
