  1. Jamie you are almost correct, as stated on my instagram I had been asked to review and report my thoughts back to Husqvarna Ire. and with the wider public i.e. you and in fact took the chance at Christmas to thank Husqvarna Ire for the chance to see what the new saws were all about on said account. We have had the 585/592 for just over two months now in the dealers and the new light and tough bars, I've been using Tsu bars for around 8/9 years now and highly rate them and that Husqvarna have gone for them was good as it means I can get them local now not from Germany as I was. The sharp eyed of you will have noticed in some of the pre-launch press pics that Husqvarna did try Sugi as well but went for the Tsu.
  2. Well I've been running my 585 for 2 months and my 592 for a week, it was delivered 23 Dec so only back since 4 Jan. The only hold up is 36" light bars in Ireland
  3. They are out in the dealers here in Ireland.
  4. The front AV spring and buffer can be replaced with a set from 661 and at the huge sum of 9.50 euros a far cheaper fix than any other. I noticed no excess vibrations only a saw thats now nice to use. The 661 buffer is a tight squeeze and I used a bit of silicon spray to help locate it. Do check the bolt that holds the top of the mount you think may have broken up before you replace it, it's behind the felling spike and easily missed. That said I would still do the 661 replacement parts.
  5. AWD, had a look and no magnet in fuel line. The fuel filter is blue topped and on the launch video I took it that the filter has the magnet ?
  6. Well no sign of the 592 XP yet here in Republic of Ireland but had a 585 delivered to me last week and very impressed with the build and finish. Although a carb saw it runs like it's AT brothers, be putting it to work properly from tmr so we'll see how it really is.
  7. With regard to Mike Hill's comment I have to agree. I've had my 500i for about 18mths and from day one said it was a good saw not the best saw ever. Now it's biggest point is the weight or lack of it and to be fair it's turned out to be harder wearing than I thought it would be so that's good only bad points are soft ? weak av springs and the Dyson like operation of the airfilter assy. I was not blown away by it's performance ( I run several ported saws) so sent it away to be "done" and now it's good just as a 80cc class should be. Interesting point the guy who I use for port work was fairly confident his own 461 would still be a bit faster which in the real working world is not important, and it was by about 1/2 a second so at least he was happy. The same guy ran mine against a same port spec 661 and the 661 was a little faster but as he was correct in saying the 500 at about a lb lighter was still the winner in the real working world.
  8. I have a SP 125 myself, keep meaning to find a bar for it as the one it came with is not the correct one. An interesting choice of pics, After a vsit to Mr McC by Mr Stihl Jnr resulted in Stihls advancement in magnesium casting as the McC's were ahead by miles in their casting methods.
  9. As the 592 XP is due to hit the dealers this year along with the 590 XP and 585 I think the panic over the "older" models will subside ... now if they are better or not we'll see soon enough although going by the 572 and 550 m2 I would think we won't be to upset !
  10. I pointed out in another thread about 500i wraps that the guy that ported my 500 checked the 462 handle and no it is not interchangeable.
  11. I would advise if you are getting a wrap make sure to get the deflector that goes with it as it makes a big difference to operations up close and personal ! Stihl did a bit of a job on the wrap for the 500 with added finger support at the join from standard handle to the wrap part and the aforementioned deflector also I understand a harder AV spring option should be coming along which would be a better option as they are a bit soft.
  12. Someone in the Jonsered part of the family thought things through and on the 2171 WH you have a 3 position switch 1, handle heat centre, all off, 3 handle and carb heat on. In the manual it also gives a warning about heating the carb for to long.
  13. Well I'm glad you sorted that out Piston Skirt ...
  14. Echo has been making quality saws for a long time so I don't suppose it will fall apart ! 572 deafening ? As I use my saws for cutting wood too I don't study them forensically either but when spending a fair chunk of cash I do like to be aware of the various points of what I'm looking at. Echo from my understanding got a member of the 572 design team to work on the 7310 hence my comment on how it looks not in any way suggesting it has to be like the 572 to be good !
  15. Have a look at the 572 then a close look at the Echo, notice how much alike they are, there is a reason for that. The Echo is a bit more weight and little less power which is not a bad thing just something to take into account.
  16. Hotsaws101
  17. Now it's been ported I like it a lot more
  18. Just got rid of my last 288 which was a 2001 saw in very good condition and took a 395,2172 and fully rebuilt 2071 for it rather than cash. I hadn't used it for around 2 years so decided to let it go for saws I would use more and get spares for. Also thought it was better sat on a shelve rather than being destroyed at work then being worthless. Saws like cars that are left not used just degrade, fuel lines etc.
  19. The 500 and 462 wraps are very different, it was the first thing checked by the fella that ported my 500. Try looking up Westcoast Saws on instagram they might sort you out.
  20. If you are going to the trouble of ordering one for the 500 make sure you get the air deflector with it. As for the 550 maybe a 560/562 one could be altered a bit although the "wrap" part mounts into the bottom of the fuel tank so would be a problem on 550. If you remove the grey tank protector on the 560/562 you will see the 3rd mount for the 3/4 wrap. You could perhaps try for a full wrap style as fitted to the 357 ? I look at my 357 full wrap and it's a great bit of work!
  21. Stubby, the 572 has a lot more "feel" than the 500. 500s do pretty much one thing which is get to max revs fast which if you don't have a small fleet of ported saws is impressive but when you start to hit included branches etc or just want to "feel" through the back cut the 572 is a better saw. Thats why my 500 is away on vacation having some decent midrange built in ! The 572 is a more solid saw which I suspect after two years of abuse on my own will stand up to a longer work life. To even in passing compare a 70cc (572) to a 80cc (500i) saw says something ? That said the 500 is a very good saw and with in mind a lot of my work is windblow or skyline I would consider a second 500
  22. I've been using my one for two years now with a 28" on oversize Spruce and hardwoods no problems. I prefer it to my 500i . Very smooth and good on fuel. I did gut the exhaust which woke it up a bit.
  23. Had mine for 2 years and it has done good bit of work with 28" most of the time, nice and smooth and good on fuel .
  24. Frammo, 357 BB - as it says a big bore in this case 61cc 357, Cannon bar lo pro if you want but .325 if you don't. I'm not so picky I cut hard and soft woods !
