  1. 0000 660 0801 That's the pt # for out side spike kit which is the match for the inner spike. At the moment there seems to be no bigger version listed and you'll maybe have to go for a set from a 462 if you want bigger. I've used a set from a 064 to give a set with better "bite" . Just get the dealer to double check that # !
  2. Morning, no I don't but it's very simple . Remove muffler look in through the inlet and at the baffles , a load of tubing, check where the outlet is and with a Dremel or something similar using a burr or if you are very careful use a drill and a couple of differing sizes cut through the baffles and work away until you have a clear path to the outlet. Be very careful on cleaning out any swarf if you don't have an air line then you can use a hose to wash out and a magnetic pickup tool to fish around to help. I have to do a new 560 soon so if I get a chance I'll do quick video and post it up on youtube.
  3. I own both , 572 XP and 500i, and if you made me choose only one it would be the 572. It feels a lot better and has a bit of "beef" to it unlike the 500 which I do wonder at how long it will last.. That said the 500 is a light very fast saw ( for a stock saw !) and if I was still doing section fells then how could you not have one as it would be a joy for that although I reckon you would loose the airfilter cover now and again if you didn't mind it ! The fact is at the moment between the 572 , 462 and 500i it's a tough call as all good saws. I would do a bit of research on the 400 as I'll lead to believe that it's not without teething problems which is why it's been out in Germany for a while but only now appearing further afield. I don't know what issue and only told this by a fellow that is pretty tight with Stihl Canada so take it as I did just something to have a check on ?

    MS 500i

I'm running a 500i at the moment and curious how any of you that are also running them are finding them ?
  5. Morning Mark, well since I posted this you fellas went above and beyond to help me out getting some gear a few weeks ago when I was over for the UK Loggers competition. Big thanks to Chris who despite being under pressure to get away on a Friday eve did all he could to get me there on the phone and then found a secure spot to leave my stuff , many thanks again !
  6. Yes I did my mark 2 last week and just like my 572 which I did over a year ago it has got a bit more get up and go and cuts very well with a 18" bar. Very easy to do and again like the 572 no need to put second "port" in just open baffles up below the already large exit and you will notice a nice change !
  7. I've been giving the Husqvarna 535 Li XP a run and it now has a full time place in the back of the jeep as it's great for setting out first thin racks etc. I get almost 2 hrs on the "save" setting felling and snedding with a 9amp battery. I was very sceptical of the chain it arrived with but it's proved far better than I expected !
  8. An undamaged clutch cover on a 020 is the rarest bit to find on them, ask anyone who ran one as a day to day climbing and you will get a story of how they melted a pair of trousers or got a burn from the exhaust due to the rear of the clutch cover being gone ! And yes I know from the results ! Oh and the trick of stopping the choke from coming on by sticking a bit of bark or sliver of timber stopping the little tab from getting caught in the tree was very quickly learned..
  9. In stock form i.e.the air flap in it's factory position yes the 090 is all about torque but move it a little it opens up. That is after all why the factory sponsored go kart racing with it's 090 engine powered karts and as far as I know the only chainsaw engine powered micro lights . If you have ever used a 090 in anger and had "push back" you will know all about what torque really is !
  10. The cord isn't seated correctly but that is the knot as it would be from factory and the handle is as it should be, hard shiny plastic. Like I say I may have a different story to tell if I had it in the flesh ! I would say I was lucky to have a brand new never fuelled 090 in my hands some years ago so I'm not just going off what the internet tells me. I do also have that model AV set up so I'm going on my own one as well. But it still may be "wrong" as they say , so who's going to buy it and let us see LOL
  11. That saw is 100% genuine I would say....looking at the pictures.... I stand to be corrected if I had it in my hand ! The clutch is not worn, 090 segments have a groove cut into the friction material and are not that thick as you would expect on such a high cc saw. Loads of little things like all the stickers and air filter are just spot on. The colour is dead on. Hand guard which is so like a chain brake but just a guard is correct even to the spring on it. On/off switch is correct as is the rear handle. Some clutch covers had the sight line blacked some didn't. Now we all know the attention to detail that has been seen on some "fakes" like the Husqvarna 365 which did the rounds in large number some years ago, it even had a factory serial number which was correct but they all had the same number ! There is one thing I noticed but I'll go back and look again. On the are they still producing 090s , about 8 years ago was the last time I know they were after a dealer pal saw a pallet load on a factory visit and when he asked about buying any he was firmly told no only for "certain" markets. He did confirm with the guy that the 090 was only built in Germany not as like the 070s etc which we know were being produced in Brazil.
  12. It was £126 I think for the "carrier" version, I don't carry tongs so it was the best for me. It's a good discount off the list price.
  13. Yes got one from Skyland at a great price a couple of weeks ago and they are good. Nice and light and don't suck up rain which is good ! Well made and the "harness" to belt fixing is fine they don't move. The wedge arrangement is very good and every pouch has a water drain along with the first aid pouch being big enough for the kit and a mars bar !
  14. I always think saying a public thank for good service is important when you can. We tend to only see negative stuff when it's all gone wrong ! Anyway a big thanks to Chris and Mark at Skyland who managed to sort me out with a couple of items at a great price and only 48 hrs to arrive across the sea , thanks lads !!
  15. I was sent out a 535i XP a few weeks ago to try and I have been more than pleased with how it "runs" it came with the most powerful slot in battery Husqvarna do at the moment and by using the save setting I got an hour and a bit felling and cleaning small Oak the other day (cutting a road in for forwarder) and it has taken up a full time spot in the back with the others. Very good for marking out sales ready for the harvester, as said above great with no fumes and quiet. An hour is a long walk in the woods when marking out and only some oil to carry.
  16. Only problem is again it's trying to lift the tree with a very small lever unlike the "proper" thing which is a sliding wedge. I can't see how such a small lever type system could work ?
  17. I drill the top of the plate with a good few swallow holes to allow the plate to "bite" and use a thick plate that also has a bit of pto shaft welded to the reverse side to stop the jack sliding away. Also angle the bottom of the cut, the base of the jack, in just a tiny bit to help - or I should say just make sure it isn't angled out !
  18. I do know of a guy that tried the jaw type that you get in a "porta-power" kit like body shops use and they , the jaws, just snapped ! Those you link , I can't see how they would stay in the cut ? the other mech wedges you refer to have a stippled plate affair which keep the whole thing in the cut. Also as already mentioned the size of the jaws means they would just push into the timber. You can get on ebay a shallow hyd jack which would do you ? I use a couple of jacks 15T and 20T with as Stubby says a good steel plate on top. It's very easy and fast enough to cut in more so than re doing a load of pen fencing !
  19. Why put the poor old girl under pressure ? The Hyper skip is a good chain, far less to sharpen and far easier on the saw. The finish is ok and it takes a beating with regards to nails etc. It's hard to believe it would cut anything when you see it for the first time but I've been running it on a twin 576 XP set up on 72" bar and it works well so a nice thumping 281 should do very well
  20. Would do the job with the Hyper skip ripping chain, assuming the bar is 36" but the cut is 30" ish it would be fine.
  21. Echo, in that case you will not be buying anything new then as everyone has "small print" ….. I would have thought you would have loaned out an old saw as you had already said you had concerns about your new saw ? so why take the chance ? hence my comment about your 041. I'm glad I can help !!
  22. Echo, all warranty comes with conditions I would have thought someone like yourself who spends quite some time looking for the smallest thing would know and understand this ? It was not "my" dealer I was referring to but , if you are where you say the north of the country, Kee's which would be your local official dealer who is both Husqvarna and Stihl dealers and when working in that area spoke to several other people who all spoke well of them so apart from the list of problems you seem to have with saws you must also be unlucky with them ? You posted that after lending the most recent saw to someone and when it came back it was starting in a different manner, why didn't you lend them your unburstable 041 ? Just because MMWS uses 40-1 will not mean it will be the same with our European petrol...
  23. Echo, I followed with a passing interest your questions etc on another forum under the user name Greenerpastures. You say you are in the nth part of RoI ? I know and have been in to the dealer you are referring to and I found them to be good and straight forward to deal with. It is a fact that here in R of I the two main players are at the mercy of the importers and where Husqvarna Ire are helpful and willing to do the job for the customer the Stihl importer have so many high value other parts i.e Makita, Bosch, Knipex etc the saw part is quite small and as a result "we" do not always get the full range so to blame the dealer is not correct ! I have to go along with a couple of other posters and conclude you are always looking for a "problem" ? To suggest that your present saw is so sensitive is at best fanciful ! I have been running AT saws since they came out and apart from the well known early problems find them good and reliable. As a guy that makes my living from a saw any problems were all covered by Husqvarna with no problems. The 2 year cover from Husqvarna is as it says … I'm sure you will have a raft of rebuttal to post but do please check your facts !
  24. Putting a very small slice in the tail ( at the end of the bar mount slot) of both the Sugi and Tsu will give far more movement in the bar and help and pretty much stop those failures. There is a reason that most of the other bars have this "slice" i.e. Oregon, Cannon etc. I have a handful of Tsu that I have use on a full time basis and no problems apart from a couple of tips. The one 28" that I didn't alter as above did develop a nice crack after a few months. I've found the Sugi tips just to brittle and for my work just not up to it, bar ok but the tips just start to break up very quickly.
  25. Well you have a 50-50 choice of large or small spline rim so when you get the Mark 2 it will take but a few moments to find out which one....you could just buy both and be prepared !!
