  1. A friend of mine uses old pallet wood in his art work and he is always after Indian sandstone crates he said they are made with types of Jungle wood, rassak salwood , kapur wood, red marranty wood. The latter has a pungent smell when cut, although I think it's darker grain. I can't seem to find a lot online about it for some reason.
  2. My opinion. Of which I am entitled to. U have your Opinion clearly they are different... The British Army thrive of a list of values called the "values and standards of the British Army" and every soldier is expected to act too. Courage Discipline Respect for others Integrity Loyalty Selfless commitment. These are my British values that I feel is lacking within our country.. And I say again... My opinion
  3. I have to agree with pretty much everything matelot has said. I too have lived and worked abroad. Worked in the middle east and also in America. And comparing the UK to the USA our country and its values are in decline I am hugely proud to be British and proud to have served our country in the forces but these values are not shared nearly as much as they should be. Yes immigration has its positives but I feel they are wildly out balanced by the negatives.
  4. You might laugh it I have actually seen this by an actual mewp license holder that I work with the basket was still 5-6m short of a roof the lad wanted to get onto so out come the ladders [emoji16] [emoji16]
  5. Similar to me now [emoji23] Vauxhall zafira with a trailer and a friend who owns a tool hire company with multiple chippers. Its not ny full time job but in due time it will be so I'm building up slowly. Started doing landscaping 15 yrs ago including small tree work no climbing And increased from there. I currently work for the MOD doing ground maintenance with a manager who is keen for me to do what courses I want pretty much I'm slowly chipping away at all my arb courses done all climbing tickets so far and mewp licence. So at present I will keep milking thier generosity and also we have the best pension scheme in the country so I'd be daft to leave but live climbing so catch 22 at the moment I don't get enough climbing time.
  6. I know I have said it a few times now but I will come and see your set up one of these days.
  7. I had a lady approach me In work and ask if I could make her 15 centre pieces for her wedding. After she explained it too me she just wanted 15x 2" discs cutting from a log. To use as a part of a table decoration at her wedding. I showed her a length of chestnut I had lying around with some nice grain in it. I cut them and loaded her car. She then comes back and gives me £75 I was baffled as I had done it for free and wasn't expecting payment. She goes on to tell me that a local tree surgeon was going to charge £15 per cut to make them so she was happy to give me £5 per cut and I was happy to oblige! These were so simple to make and took me a matter of minutes. I know some of you use lathes and produce carvings but what other extras do you offer using the logs you produce? I have made a door plaque for a customer once by cutting diagonally through then routering out his door number but he was a personal friend so never charged him.
  8. Absolutely stunning as usual!
  9. Best option I have sailed since I was 7 i was a lifeguard for 5 years and been climbing for a few years now and I can't remember one occasion that I have successfully un-coiled a rope [emoji23] [emoji23] Cheaper option again Aldi specially buys! Canoe bags made by crane absolutely perfect and bone dry once sealed I think they are £7 a pop. But u never know when they will next be on sale!!
  10. What is the pay. Are they set days or random?
  11. The crushed lava rock gave it away. We have been to tenerife every year for the last 7 years. I was looking at these trees too they are peculiar no idea what they are though. Some of the roots look rather phallic [emoji16]
  12. Here is a few more interesting trees off the camp I work at.
  13. I don't suppose that is on one of the canary islands is it?
  14. I have always said it would be far cheaper to hold them in a cell for a few days and let the victims of the crime visit with a few friends
  15. When I say over I don't mean one ontop of the other I mean instead of [emoji23]
  16. Stihl Dynamic for me really comfortable. I often put these on over my Advanced X-Treems.
  17. I have a set of telescopic ladders and a set that can be made into an A frame/ work platform.. Couldn't do shrub/ hedge work without them
  18. Nice work yet again Simon..
  19. My dad always told me that you should learn something new every day and also do something that scares you every day.
  20. I'm trying to install this exact ethos into my kids at present... Grab life by the balls do whatever you want. The world is a selfish place very rarely do you find someone who is out for you these days. When i started landscaping at 15 I worked for an old school fella called Arthur and every job was about him showing me exactly what I needed to know to go on and be competent in all aspects of landscaping. I try to do the same but in recent years I have lost faith in people. Everyone seems to be out for themselves and their own pocket. I know alot of you will likely disagree mainly the business owners but this is my view. congratulations to you if you still have the time to show the yoof the ropes. Rant over [emoji16] [emoji16]
  21. Isn't this the guy who took a self with a plane hijacker..
  22. I don't wish to lower the tone too much but I found an elderly lady who had apparently committed suicide by walking into a dead cold river. I found her an hour later floating face down... Needless to say wasnt my best day at work.. On a lighter note I found this at work one day Sat and waited with it until bomb disposal turned up... Told me to leave all electrical devices in their vehicle in case they set it off... I never told them about the selfie [emoji15]
