  1. Hello mate, I'm available from mid November, Email me at : [email protected]
  2. Hmmm a 14 pin sprocket. Sounds scary
  3. Thanks stubby, I've already had a chat with spud about porting. Maybe next year when the warranties over.
  4. Seriously though it's good rare wood. Store it if you have space.
  5. Rip it with a long bar into 2" slabs, rub in tung oil, Et voila! Rustic cutting/presentation boards! £50 a pop.
  6. I run an Alaskan mill and always interested in unusual wood. Pricing is a real bitch though. Often I'm paid to cut it down and remove it. So better than free. If you buy wood by the acre it's cheap too. Problems start when someone thinks Oooh I've got a piece of oak. An oak table is £1000,it must be worth hundreds. It's not. It's all firewood until you know someone, who has a market for it. I worked in forests in France where huge oaks go for firewood and the pine is sold to sawmills for big money???? If you've got good wood, save it.
  7. Picked up the 880 yesterday. Many will disagree, but it's soooo light! After lugging an 075 051 and 056super this is much easier. Testing on Monday with 24" ash logs to mill. Will bed in the engine over the weekend. Yeah an 8 tooth sprocket increases chain speed but lowers torque. On my ms440 the 8 tooth sprocket makes it bog easier on logs over 16". Hoping that won't be a problem with the 880? I've read about much bigger sprockets but stihl only sell an 8 tooth. Anyone any experience with bigger sprockets?
  8. Might have some oak butts coming up soonish. Can you move them? (South east) Saul. Private message me
  9. I've just ordered an 880 too. Collecting it this week. Ordered an 8 tooth sprocket too:)
  10. When do you need it done? 07768688598 Saul

    Kindling

Lots of kiln dried kindling. Sussex
  12. Hey guys, I think I've got a similar chilaskan. How's the milling going, what are you ripping?
  13. Thanks Spud. Everything you've written makes sense. The problem is : the black tube at the bottom of the oil tank was a twig. The manual oil pump works fine. It's the same pickup for the automatic pump. I've just put a new worm gear and oil pump (stihl). Still no oil. I even took an 051 worm and pump which work and tried them:( I'm wondering if there's a blockage after the pickup, before the oil pump? On a brighter note, I'm curious about this whole woods porting. Can you pm me some details? Got an ms440 2006 for cross cutting. Thanks
  14. Got the 009 051 and 075 thanks M. If anyone has the 056 super manual please contact me thanks. Furry
  15. Hi guys. I'm restoring an 075av 1978/79. The only problem is the automatic oil pump isn't working. Bought a new stihl oil pump and worm gear. Still no oil. The manual pump works fine. I've looked in the oil tank and there appears to be one pickup with filter going to the manual pump and a small black tube laying on the bottom of the tank. Spent a lot of time and money: piston stop, clutch spanner, bleeding knuckles etc... It's doing my nut. Any experienced mech heads with advice? Thanks
  16. I use an ms440, for small stuff, 056 super for up to 30", Then get out the 075 for big stuff. A 660 has great cutting speed up to 36" An 8 tooth rim sprocket makes them much faster,
  17. Same problem here in brighton. Two late but mild frosts in May killed a lot Of the flowers. Happened with my plums too. Last year 10kg of great plums. This year 10 plums. Frosts and micro climates I believe.
  18. Hi guys, new to this site. I'm fixing some old saws and need the workshop manuals. Any help appreciated, thanks.
  19. Hey guys, I've got a few dinosaurs I'm fixing. I need workshop manuals for 009,056s,051 and 075. Any help appreciated.
