Stihl E30

Hi guys, anyone know anything about the e30? I'm thinking to mill indoors with one. Any feedback appreciated.
  2. Then read. Chainsaw lumber making by will maloff. If you're going to be ripping regularly get a decent grinder. It's all about the chain regularity, depth gauges are especially important. Good luck
  3. I mill. Ditch the duromatic bar. Get a rollomatic es. Might get away with low profile chain on a 20" bar? Duromatics heat up quite quickly when milling, burns the oil off. Loses power going over the bar tip.
  4. Brilliant bit of kit. Great video. Thanks
  5. Once cut rub some pure tung oil in. Should help.
  6. Just read this thread and thought, give it a go... But £20 for a 25" 404 chain including postage is too expensive. Rather spend the extra £4 buying quality.
  7. You can buy a copy on eBay for about £60 or make your own from threaded bar and plywood for £20. I've tried both. Yes if it slips you start cutting steel and mess up your chain. I recommend get a copy, then when the bug kicks in upgrade.
  8. Got oak that size and bigger, green or kilned. Private message me if you are still looking.
  9.

Thanks Rob, I'll be in contact in a few months.

Do you keep the 74" and 98" in stock, or how long to order?

  10.

Ideally 3metres plus?

Thanks

  11.
I'm building a mill which will take that size. Are there any bigger bars?

  12.
And what's the price tag?

  13.

Hi Rob, 98"!!! What's the cutting length on a mill?

Thanks

  14.

Hi Rob, what's the longest bar available for stihl ms880?

Thanks

  15. Bought a husky, two weeks later read about them on here. It's dribbling like a baby after a few months. Out of both spouts
  16. Yeah mate. Good stuff. Worth gettin up at 6am for
  17. Chainsaw lumber making by Will Malloff. You can find it on the net for free. Should keep you busy
  18. Oxidisation of exposed ferrous material probably. The speed depends on moisture content and tannins. Probably
  19. I recommend la borgne. Stays sharp, heavy, short, wide blade.
  20. Get an 8 tooth rim sprocket, makes cutting quicker
  21. I used my ms440 for milling sweet chestnut 12-20" it cuts well With a 25" bar and 3/8 ripping chain. I also tried an 051,056,075 They all work, but for how long? My 440 is back as a cross cutting saw and I've bought an 880 for milling. The old saws work fine until they break down. Then you really pay. Get a 660 and an Alaskan mill you won't look back
  22. Stihl ms440 is great 70cc saw. It does most things, I've even milled a few planks. Great with an 18" bar and an 8 tooth sprocket.
  23. Retail or wholesale? Big difference. And it's green.
