  1. Yep you can mill with a 461 but only with a25" bar. Only mill green wood though. Avoid dry ash especially. Very hard. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. I've ran a 440 for ten years on a 25" bar. (5 years in Brittany.) No probs, but I'm skipping the 441, getting the 461. More power than 441. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. Sorry to hear of your loss. Will keep my eyes open around Brighton. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. I took mine on a course (as a spare). Instructor laughed, said it's not a real chainsaw. After 4 disco cuts, he looks at me astonished. It f***ing works! Great for small under 10" stuff. No exhaust fumes, quieter than a 2stroke. I'm waiting for the electric saw and batteries to be able to run a 25-36" bar. [emoji3] Might have to wait a while [emoji57] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. That's clearly the new style ppe baseball cap he's wearing. [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. Yeah, nice boards mate. There is a thread on here somewhere about standing sycamore. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. Good to hear it's running, They don't cut fast, but won't slow down much with a 4 foot bar Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Pull gently until resistance, then pull like mental and don't stop. Might need 3-8 good HARD pulls to run. Get a decompression valve, but it is an arm ripper of a saw. Obviously you've tried a new spark plug and taken the air filter off? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. I've got oak drying, 2.2m x 0.9m x 50mm approx Nice central heartwood, loads of rays, character. Any use? 07376803384 Saul Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. A good relationship with a local dealer is important. My nearest will match frjones prices for professionals. Even gave me extended warranty for free. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. Just upgraded the fleet[emoji3] Got a stihl 056super and stihl 051 for sale and a 76cc partner saw. Sensible offers only Any questions 07376803384 Saul Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. How satisfying is milling your own timber hunter? [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. You can still buy new decomp valves for 075 from stihl[emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. On my 075, choke on,pull til it farts, choke off( no throttle) then pull 3 times and boom! My 051 is the same. I don't use throttle to start. Have you tried taking the air filter off and starting it? When I change air filters, often I need to retune. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Just make sure you tighten all nuts well, and take some spares too. Very powerful saw, great on really wide boards. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. Bill and Logan, nail on head chaps. Dragging a 075 with a mill and bits into the woods to find something pops/cracks... After repairing many old saws I now buy brand new from dealer. 880 all the way. 12k rpm is ok, but it starts and runs every time. Hunter did you get the 056 ? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. Nice [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. Has anyone seen the evl twin cylinder? I believe it's inline pistons reduce vibration Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. Amen Logan [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Doesn't anyone else on here ever wondered what a twin engined 660/880 would be like? (If you could lift it) Could it be done Spud? [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. Knee jerk comment? My apologies for offending/amusing anyone. Just had a lot of bad experiences with other manufacturers. Stihl is far from perfect too. How about we all club together and get spud to start a line of chainsaws? [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. That's green oak[emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Yes, the 660 out milled my 075, 056s,051 and a 440 on 12-18" sweet chestnut. It's even faster on under 3foot oak than a new 880! Having said that over 3foot it doesn't stand a chance. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. The 076 runs at 10krpm The 660 at 13.5k If you want to mill 3' no more. The 660 will outmill all the others. But over 3' the others will breeze but the 660 doesn't have a bar over 42". 350 for a good machine is a fair price too. I use an 880 now. But depends on budget. I started with a 440 then an 051 and an 056 onto an 075. All good saws [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. I use stihl. Have done for over ten years. I own many, many saws. I've used many other saws, but the only decent saws are stihl. Huskys are prone to many problems. Macs, partner, Sachs, Makita etc are ok for amateurs. If you're a professional, buy a professional machine. 441s are shlt though. 461 is a much better machine.
