We are looking to buy a Lucas Mill for slabbing large logs on site. If anyone knows of a good second hand one for sale - please get in touch! Could push to a new one but worth a try looking for a second hand one first. Based in West Wales but can travel to collect. Cheers

Hi! I am new to milling. Have just milled one tree Still, milling with alaskan mills is a bit specific. Need good first cut system, also need time to go and do stuff on site. I am looking to do milling at my site. It is a bit specific how to get trees to the site, still, as this is just my hobby then I can mill tree anytime I want (have time). Saw post while back - Still have not seen follow up. Have seen Paterson DWS, but those are a bit price and for now a bit out of my price range. Would be able to pay up to 5000 GBP. Have seen also info about home made portable chainsaw mills. http://www.woodweb.com/knowledge_base/HomeBuilt_Portable_Chainsaw_Mill.html Anybody has experience with this kind of stuff? At this time I am ok to invest some small amount to create such a mill (maybe not so portable, but just main fraime and moving part). But as there is so few info about this kind of stuff then can` t understand why?

Hello Members. Bought a new MS 661 today - for use with an Alaskan mill and slabbing. Not for me but an experienced son. Also getting the MS 880. Collected it personally and asked for advice on mills and the options available. Well, was basically told that such a saw was not designed for such use and I would be back with issues, not normally, covered by the warranty ? Seemingly, such a saw does not like being used in this way and will be 'shaken' to death ? We will also have issues with the fuel mixture, bolts coming loose and the air filter ? It was suggested, helpfully, that we consider changing the bar for a smaller pitch and use a rip chain. Oh, and the best option for us, is to buy a Lucas Mill ! What are the thoughts of others please..... Thank you, Mark.

Recently felled oak trunk available from Dorking, Surrey. Trunk is in 2 pieces: Piece 1: Diameter 670-700, Circumference ~2300, Length 1700 Piece 2: Diameter 500, Circumference 1600, Length 1200 All sizes approximate though likely to be the smaller measurement Hopefully someone is interested in milling this otherwise would be a shame to chop for firewood... For collection it can be pulled / rolled down a slight slope but would need to be lifted over a short wooden fence at the bottom bordering the property and road (no damage to fence). Given the weight a hydraulic grabber or mini crane would likely be required Thanks for looking, Rowan

We are changing the way in which we sell the Granberg mills. Usually they come in a host of different sizes 24",30",36",42",48",60". The longer mills are awkward and expensive to ship - also it means keeping a large stock of rails in to meet different lengths. We'll still do the Alaskan 36" mills (which adjust down to 30" and 24") but for the longer mills we are now switching to the Granberg Ultimate mills - these will have 36"/24" and 12" extensions as well as x2 round handles. You can then make you mill to 24"/36"/48"/60"... for longer just buy another joining kit. If you have a Granberg mill you want to extend you can now do so without having to buy a whole new handle and rail set https://www.chainsawbars.co.uk/product-category/mills-kits/alaskan-mill-mk-4/ The mill in the pics is set up as a 48" Alaskan.

Hi, I have five 2m lengths of Ash (up to 60cm in diameter) that I was hoping to have sawn into planks. The location is close to a road but down a bank so the milling equipment would have to be quite portable (such as an Alaskan Mill?). Can anyone offer that service? What are the costs? Postcode is SE19 2JD (Crystal Palace) Rob
