  1. Sweet chestnut 100% Great wood [emoji106]
  2. I used to rent a workshop in an 18th century coach house. 2 sets of roller shutters and internal doors etc. Other units are offices full of mac computers and other expensive stuff. Surrounded by residential properties. Every time I opened the shutters at 6am/11pm etc Someone was watching. Great security. Only problem was irate neighbours complaining about saws, wood, noise etc. Cars and motorbikes have been stolen from out front though. Can't win?
  3. It's going to warp and crack whatever you do. Don't worry, it's your first time milling. Enjoy the experience and start looking for your next saw log. [emoji106]
  4. Frjones sell one without bar brand new for a £1000.
  5. Modern opinels are stainless steel. The old ones rust but easier to sharpen.
  6. I agree with hair, nearly every year I've cut small trees laying across the road. If there's a few cars waiting you might even get a cheer when you whip out a chainsaw and help everyone. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  7. If it's still there in the beginning of January, I'll mill it for you.
  8. Ask seventh devil on here, he's got a serious variety of wood too. [emoji106]
  9. Had a great response actually. Several companies made enquiries. Going for a try out next week. A big thank you to Arbtalk and it's readership. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  10. Thanks for all the enquiries, starting Monday. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  11. Until they are dry, not a lot.
  12. Serious drought of decent arb employers? I've posted on here before, not one reply. Most companies I've worked with in the past want naive youngsters who will work like crazy, without regard for safety for £80 a day.
  13. Looking for work. Ten years experience. Felling, processing, milling green wood working etc. Cs 30&31 Looking for reputable employer. Willing to relocate for the right job. All own new saws 261,461,661,880. Ppe etc. No cowboys, fagins or "start you on £50 a day BS" Looking to get climbing and further qualifications. All enquiries 07376803384 Into early starts and arriving early. Physically fit, keen, hard worker. Saul Thanks
  14. Yes it's really expensive, but I just charge £20 extra on a job. Pays for the bio oil which is about £6 a litre too. Would be nice to get cheaper fuel and oil. On a small 50cc saw you might not notice or care. But with a 661 or 880 in your hands all day on a windless day. I used to wake up the next day still smelling the exhaust from previous day.
  15. I can't remember exactly, but the 075/76 should have a manual oil pump button just over the front grip or if not its an 051. Also the 75/76 are identical except for some internal components to do with ignition etc. Expensive to repair, but great fun to use briefly. In good working order and bar and chain you could get £200-£400.
  16. I've got a 2017 261, no problems yet, but hasn't seen much action.
  17. A stihl 261 is a good machine. Fast cutting with a narrow .325 kerf [emoji106]
  18. Have to admit I've watched a few ported 395 vids on utube and thought mmmm tasty.
  19. A ladder makes a great straight edge for Alaskan milling. My days of climbing ladders are over. I hope. [emoji12]
  20. 661 with 3/8 20", 25" and 36" cuts nice and fast, cross cutting and milling. I keep the 404 for the 880. Haven't tried a 395.
  21. Great pics and some good wood there. [emoji106]
