  1. Mr village, Do you actually believe you have no free will?
  2. Might be ok for rough cross cutting, but how do you file the depth gauges? Wouldn't work for a ripping chain as all the teeth would be different lengths. Angles won't be really accurate either. Good for in the woods though.
  3. So start being a bit more responsible with your posts eh matelot?
  4. Fascinating thread hijack guys. Totally disagree on the illusion of consciousness though. To be conscious means to be "aware". Our "consciousness" is very different to other animals. When snowboarding etc in the "zone" you brain is only conscious of your physical surroundings. This is like an animal brain. Human brains are very different. Self reflection, pre meditated planning, cognitive thought processes, the concept of self, etc is more of an example of "higher" consciousness. Hence we have a judicial system based on personal responsibility.
  5. Guess who I was writing about? How ya doin mate? [emoji106]
  6. Has anyone ever been stopped by dvla and had their mower tank checked?
  7. Cheap grinders are sh*t. Plastic, wobbly useless crap. My mate bought one £30 it was useless. He then spent £90 on a better one. Still useless plastic wobbly sh*t. After seeing my mates frustration I bought a stihl HOS grinder. It works really well. You can always buy sh*t cheap, doesn't mean it'll work though. Try grinding depth gauges at 0.65 mm with a machine that wobbles 3mm each way. ☹️
  8. My mate sent me a link, Tells me it's good. [emoji106]

  10. Sleepers are green wood, and normally the lowest quality. Will certainly split, warp, crack etc. Kiln dried oak is £20-50 for a cubic foot depending on quality.
  11. A stihl 461 will run a 28-30" bar, but best with a 25". Full compliment chain. All day ,everyday.
  12. Even with a big 90cc+ saw? I've seen the video comparing composite vs steel toe cap. Scary.
  13. Yes you need a new sprocket. 0.5 mm of wear is the recommended limit. Get a "rim sprocket conversion kit" For about £30. (Oem) Spur sprockets like yours are more expensive to replace regularly. Rim sprockets are about £10 (oem) Oiling: have a look at your bar, are the tiny holes to let the oil through in to the bar blocked? Clean the bar. Good luck. [emoji106]
  14. When chainsaw trousers are tested, the power is cut then the saw swings at the material. So whatever the saws's power source is, the throttle is released. Just the kinetic energy of the chain to stop. What worries me though, is what would happen if the throttle was still on full and you hit your trousers/boots... I've been told they just cut straight through. Anyone got any videos of this?
  15. Chainsaw protection is for chainsaws.... The chain can't tell the difference.... Electric saws i.e.: skil saws, circular saws, band saws etc are not chainsaws. Ergo... See Mick Dempsey's comment. [emoji106]
  16. I use standard full chisel 404 stihl chain then grind it to 0 degrees.
  17. I run a 880 with the normal duromatic 48" 404 for milling. How much thinner is the kerf with lo pro?
  18. Second hand saws are a minefield of shyte. I always buy new now. It's safer, whatever brand. [emoji106]
  19. Canoehead What tools do you need? Stick up a list? Where abouts are you? Uk/Portugal I haven't got much but I have a few old chisels, drills etc Any use? Looking forward to your next build thread. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  20. Spud! Had a go on a saw you ported. Husky thing. One touch and Zing!!!! Didn't know chainsaws could do that. More than impressed. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
