  1. Have bought quite a few saws off eBay. All were problematic. Great for learning saw mechanics though [emoji15][emoji23] Lots of good small saws out there. If I had to buy a cheap second hander, be a bit safer to get it from here. The above posts, arbtrader or ask spud on here. Good luck [emoji106]
  2. Hmmm big bitcoin heist in the news.
  3. I've decided to start my own crypto currency... It's call log coin! Get them now before they rocket in price!!! Each logcoin is selling at £100 each today. Imagine how much more they could be worth!!! Yes it is a log, You can store them in a "log store wallet". You can " mine" logcoins By working in a tree related job. These logcoins can be traded normally or on a "dark night" for those more discreet users. Kiln dried logcoins also available at a premium. No returns. No refunds. 4. What's the bar stability like on the farmers mill? What length bar are you using? Great looking timber mate. [emoji106]
  5. Ten tors and oats walk train every weekend from January. (when I was a kid). Lots of the moors were heavily used the last few thousand years. It's covered in all sorts from stone circles to hundreds of miles of dry stone wall. Cattle, sheep and other live stock cover it too. Not to mention all the mining activities etc. But it can be a very wild place. (Especially the weather) Just not true wilderness anymore. ☹️
  6. Most problems with dogs arise from humans anthropomorphising them. Dogs aren't human. They are selectively bred wolves. Too many people think dogs are like children??? Until they bite. And as for pugs..... In hand bags ???? Anyway I'm sure there's a few badass ex forces types who could handle an attack dog in retirement. If I had land I'd be on the list for adopters. ☹️
  7. Dartmoor isn't as remote as you'd think. The army use it Monday to Friday and have dropped dangerous stuff over lots of it. Walkers and day trippers drop rubbish a lot. Even in mid winter, the ten tors and oats walk kids start training.
  8. I spent 2 years fostering rescued dogs. Had all kinds of dogs, hunt dogs, abandoned, abused and fighting dogs. 99% can be re-homed after 3-6 months of training. Even had a fighting pitbull we gave to a girl in a wheelchair. We had a mate who would keep the dangerous ones. You wouldn't want to break into his house.
  9. A 440 will pull a 25" bar happily all day. Haven't tried a 441. The 461 is a cracker, but I love my 661 more. Not much weight difference. A 30"+ bar is quite unbalanced on all saws. Can't put anything over 25" on a 440, it will bog.
  10. Good video mate. [emoji106] I presume you've seen the ted-talk about fungus.
  11. Anything by Akira Kurosawa : Seven samurai Yojimbo The Hidden fortress Ran ...
  12. Can't watch any videos, app crashes. Always been like that on here. iPhone se
  13. Ben, how long have you had the chipper? Any problems so far? Tempting price though [emoji106]
  14. Pros: Light weight, quiet, less vibrations, no exhaust fumes, no buying petrol, cheap to recharge, can be used indoors, great for carving/woodworking. Can use the batteries on other tools ,Hedge cutters etc Cons: The batteries are nearly £200 each, needs a sensor to tell you you're running out of chain oil. Only available with 14" bar. [emoji106]
  15. 3 hours? Best after 2 years. [emoji15]
  16. Wet wood won't warm you. Been burning s.chestnut for the last 30+ years. Good in a burner after one year. Stops spitting after two years indoor seasoning. Dries and grows quicker than oak, nearly the same calorific value. Much easier to cut and split as well. [emoji12]
  17. Great firewood. Durable out doors for many years. Regrows from coppice stool. Very little sapwood. And it fed medieval Europe. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
