  1. Mainly 12' by 3.5' by 3" About 300kg roughly per slab. I'll be selling them in a few months. [emoji106]
  2. Great recipe: A 1litre kilner jar 120 young fresh peach leaves 20 cubes of sugar Bottle of red wine Chuck all ingredients in to the jar. Top up with eau de vie. Or over proof calvados. Leave for 3-6 months minimum. Tastes like peachy port [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  3. Really stable low moisture content 10%. Straight clean grain. Oak is good, s.chestnut has weak fibre cohesion so likely to split. I know a woodsman who built a house from chestnut and oak. Used steel framed glass to stop the windows breaking. [emoji106]
  4. £400 a ton for s.chestnut is robbery.[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] It sells wholesale for £6-800 m3 for kiln dried planks. I use to pay £12 a ton standing for all s.chestnut logs. Firewood or milling. Don't get mugged off. [emoji106]
  5. Or put your driving license code in gov website. You can tow 750kg unbraked.
  6. A recent job. [emoji106]
  7. Yes mate, no problem. Saul 07376803384 [emoji106]
  8. I've seen a fairy liquid bottle with brewers tube and tap on a mill. Worked fine. The hardest bit is getting it to stay on the upright. [emoji106]

Groundies must have cs30/31 and have minimum 3 years commercial experience. Must have own PPE Must drive and own vehicle. Aerial rescue is a distinct advantage. Pay £100 or more a day. Broad spectrum of work from mrs miggins's apple tree to large commercial sites. I expect professional work, I pay professional prices. You must have a UTR number. 10. Yeah, but only when the chain is blunt, [emoji12][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  11. He's talking shyt. You can't get 20 sleepers from a ton. Green sleepers are about 50kg. I'd love to see the sawmill with 100% efficiency. The norm is 40%. The big s.chestnut you describe is worth milling. Rot, cavitys, inclusions all add to the character. It probably is fucked as far as standard boards go, but with a bucket or two of resin.... 5'x10' table tops mmmm.[emoji106] Mill it thick or it will probably fall apart. 75-150mm. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  12. I'm no mechanic, I was told to stick an extra teaspoon of oil in my mix for the first few tanks, which I did. Pulls like a proverbial. It can mill 42" wide semi seasoned oak heart 12' long in a few minutes. Takes a full tank though. [emoji106]
  13. Get a professional in, Unless you like spending time in A&E. [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]
  14. Big congrats gobby, [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  15. I strapped mine to a pallet. Ran on tick over with a little revs every few seconds for 3 tanks. Takes a while... Then milling small diameter 12-24" logs for a few tanks. Then into the big stuff ever since. Big difference from about 15-20 tanks. Torque is epic. But at first I was disappointed by lowish power. It builds. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  16. I've noticed they only show a monthly price. Not what you'll be paying or how long. Tempting though, [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  17. I was warned sometime back about sharpening grinder teeth. Bit of a horror story but true. Apparently they contain some nasty stuff. I'd check the manufacturers recommendations. Stay safe. [emoji106]
  18. I know what you mean. Shoulders and wrists. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  19. That pretty tidy mate. [emoji106]
  20. Good looking wood kav, How wide will the Lucas mill cut? [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  21. Got a twenty year old disco2,petrol,4L V8. It's a tractor basically, With 5 seats and room for saws. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  22. Give me a ring mate. [emoji106]
  23. Sorted now. [emoji106]
  24. Need a freelancer this coming Monday and Tuesday. The job is near Bradford. Just need PPE. No climbing, Nothing complicated. Good pay Phone 07376803384 Thanks Saul [emoji106]
  25. Oak was coppiced for the bark tannins to use in the leather industry. Since synthetic treatment the industry died. 14" oak is very young maybe 30-50 years and won't contain much valuable heartwood. Best after 100-150 years. To make a living, Learn forestry, milling and carpentry build a workshop make fences and furniture. With selective felling this would be a job you could pass on to generations to come. [emoji106]
