  1. Looks small for 75 horses, What does it weigh? How big will it chip? The le Bon coin link is dead.
  2. Bit summery yesterday [emoji3][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  3. Get loads of stickers cut, stack it high with a big off cut on top.[emoji106] The only wood I've had split regularly is sweet chestnut. But still useful stuff. I haven't made a resin table yet, but I'm starting to think about it. [emoji106]
  4. You in Brighton?
  5. I chainsaw mill professionally all over the uk. Big J is absolutely right. Don't turn that incredible tree into sawdust!!! [emoji12][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  6. 240cm is big bandsaw territory [emoji106]
  7. This is another photo of the oak when I was milling it, Notice the end is clean as it was trimmed. Looks good to me. [emoji106]
  8. Often the bar length is only the cutting part. I think you'd be fine with a 72" but to be sure you'd be better asking RobD on here. He's also a bit of an authority on double headed mills. [emoji106]
  9. Condition? In what sense? The beech was solid enough to be carried out of the woods for 100m By two men. The oak is 3" and solid. As I didn't see any of the trees standing it's hard to know what kind of tension and compression forces were at play. The heavily spalted beech with holes will be good for resin work. Couldn't honestly say about 2-3 years from now. But if they split it's waney edge with resin river tables. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  10. That's some impressive wood. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  11. I've had to smash the metal grate out of a tree before stump grinding. [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]
  12. Go to Brighton [emoji12][emoji106]
  13. And some large oak 10' by 3-3.5' by 3" There are more slabs than photos. [emoji106]
  14. Milled some beech and oak for a client who now wants to sell some. Pm me for details or phone 07376803384 Thanks Saul
  15. What's LR?
  16. TWO guys were out hunting in the outback and came upon a huge hole in the ground. They approached it and were amazed at its size. The first said, "Wow, that's some hole. I can't even see the bottom. I wonder how deep it is." The second said, "There's an old gear box over there. Let's throw it in and see how long it takes to hit bottom." So, they picked up the gear box, carried it over to the hole, counted one-two-three and heaved it in. As they were standing there, looking over the edge of the hole, a goat come crashing through the underbrush, ran up to the hole and without hesitation, jumped in head first. While they were standing there staring at each other in amazement, they peered into the hole, trying to figure out what that was all about. Just then an old farmer sauntered up. "G'day, you blokes didn't happen to see my goat?" The first hunter said, "Funny you should ask. We were just standing here a minute ago and a goat came running out of the bushes doing about 100 MPH and jumped head first into this hole!" The old farmer said, "Nah, that's impossible! I had him chained to a gear box." [emoji12][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

  20. Might have an old 48" .404 "spare" chain if you want? Haven't got a 48" bar but bizarrely I do have a brand new 17" 3002 mount bar Could mill some 12" stuff?[emoji848] Free to a good home? [emoji106]
  21. Wonky and I used to pay £20 a ton (1.5m3) for quality over stood s.chestnut. 14-24" For milling and shakes/shingles [emoji106]
  22. West Yorkshire £100 1xm3
  23. I travel nationwide. Luckily the couple own a holiday cottage next door, normally it's cheap digs or camping in the summer. The clients originally wanted dimensional cut timber. The tree had fallen in a storm in 2012. The logs were completely unsuitable for this, as the grain was all over the place and had started to spalt. However it will make the most incredible table tops. 5-6 tons of slabs. I charge a flat day rate. I have a commission arrangement for selling the slabs. [emoji106]
