  1. Get an open fire then. You've a loooooooot of reading and understanding to get your head around with your current mindset.
  2. An open fire is 15% efficient, a stove is over 80% these days.
  3. No, from 2023 traditional coal will be phased out in England. Quite rightly too! Smokeless coal will continue to be sold. I have no issue with this at all. The attack on Logs is another matter though.
  4. You where talking about 'back in the day' and 1900. You also mention working from dusk til dawn. Now you've switched to modern day. Make your mind up.
  5. Even smokeless?
  6. We where the same. Toilet bowl frozen over through the winter. If you want an open fire knock yourself out. I’ve yet to see a positive for one over a stove. Unless you’ve so much timber you need to get through you’re actually looking forward gobbling it all up needlessly.
  7. We had open fires all through my childhood. I certainly dont remember them keeping the whole house warm. Far from it and there was hell if you left the livingroom door open. The efficiency is so low that you’ll be refuelling far more often for far less heat into the room. You’ll also have a gaping hole in your room letting in the cold constantly.
  8. Need to take the fireplaces back to the builders entrance if that’s possible. Open fires are just crap. Efficiency is incredibly low, spits sparks drafty, no way to control the burn, no stored energy/heat once it goes out. You’re certainly missing something. 🤣
  9. I’d have thought farmers work dawn til dusk. 🤣 Keep in mind in the winter that’s not many hours really.
  10. I do about 1200 hours on average for the company I work for. Maybe add another 400 hours for my own Milling Company.
  11. £160k? Bloody hell! That’s madness. Cheaper buying a Turbine
  12. Looks like someone other than Starmer likes getting on his knees. 🤣
  13. I’d hope so. To not be able to use two appliances at the same time would drive me mad. It simply would not be possible for us. Or at least not worth it for the lifestyle we like. Dishwasher, Tumble dryer, Washing machine on at the same time the time of year. We do need to reduce our consumption though. I’m seriously looking at getting Solar Panels and a battery but fag packet maths still does not really add up.
  14. That just sounds like far more hassle than its even remotely worth.
  15. Thanks for the write-up! Looking forwards to more pictures. I really like the chamfer on the front.
  16. More unelectable than Kneel Stammer? Both would be disastrous but people dont forget that Kneel was against Brexit and he's a white apologist weasel. The demographics of who votes in the UK are fortunately still white and voted for Brexit. Although that will of course change in the years to come.
  17. The problem with that is there is just no accountability. Just the merry-go-round of politicians lining up to be the next fall guy then when they do take the fall they end up in the private sector gravy train. It matters not if its Labour or the Tories, the whole system is corrupt to the core.
  18. I could add some Viking Necklace Jewelry pics if anyone's interested? [emoji3] If not then it will be some time before Im back in the workshop unfortunately. [emoji20] Ive got a stunning piece of Burr Oak that Im needing inspiration for. Sketches would be nice. [emoji4] Andy
  19. Thats beautiful! Any progress pictures you could post up?
  20. Oh, Ive loads to get on with Khriss with a K. Inundated with Milling work. Unfortunately Ive still gotta do the day job, which this trip is sitting in the Rec Room waiting on equipment stuck on the supply boat due to the storms. So plenty of paid time to reply to your nonsense. Andy, Andy with an A. In case someone did not realise my name was Andy from my avatar and if they did in fact forget I like to remind them that Andy starts with an A. A
  21. Well done K? Are you thanking yourself for a job well done on a forum? 🤣
  22. Had a read. Mostly hard left twaddle but I agree with one thing. Boris is no Clown, most (Tory anyway) politicians aren’t but it gives them an almost carte blanche to get away with what they do. As the article said, fall for that at your peril.
  23. 100% Or a huge Nuclear reset. There is no getting back on track now. We're enslaving ourselves, or allowing ourselves to be enslaved because we do not feel the weight of the chains yet. We're frogs in the pan of cold water thats getting slowly but surely hotter till we're cooked and we just dont notice it.
  24. I’d vote them out. Bunch of clowns. But replace them with what. Kneel Stammer? Yeh, fark no! Better the devil you know in this instance.
