  1. Ive been back in the UK three days now. Only been asked to wear a mask in one shop, I walked out and went to the one thatr did not insist on it. That to me is very very simple and works for me. I see the likes of Asda are not enforcing it which is some common sense at last. Tesco where happy for me to shop without one and with good reason, 70% of their staff was not wearing one either. Common sense will prevail eventually and we can put this charade behind us.
  2. But the scared gullible fools lap it up.
  3. Depends on the softwood but it’s not automatically value for money. False economy maybe? I’d want Oak as well as it will still be there long after I’m gone. But it seems like such a waste of a beautiful wood.I’ll assume it’s come over from Eastern Europe? Get it before it’s all gone. [emoji16] How much where you per Sleeper? I’ve seen Oak as low as £25 each and that’s just criminal.
  4. Buy softwood then.
  5. Deep scores sounds like an off-set tooth being outta whack. When there is hardly a few quids profit in a sleeper it seems like some folk will run their bands till their well worn to maximize production. You're buying sleepers, so Im not really seeing an issue with what you're buying. If you want them graded or even planed expect to pay for that, or do it yourself.
  6. Les knows everything..... Get used to it. ?
  7. Cheers Bob. That’s good to know. I have insta but barely know how to use it. What’s his handle?
  8. Cant help unfortunately. All I could contribute is I love Oak and slathering it in lots of Danish Oil. :D
  9. Hope he's ok. Anyone in contact with him?
  10. This has @se7enthdevil written all over it. Or maybe @Rough Hewn? Anyone heard from @Rough Hewn in a while? is he doing ok?
  11. Did you manage to earn any more money that day? Or was it written off on the prospect of doing this job? If you've lost a days wage for this thats what Id be charging. Its not your fault.
  12. Had a read. Am I right in thinking it’s an amendment from the Green Party and Starmer that was put to a vote and not passed?
  13. Thats a completely difference scenario. If I had the common cold I would happily wear a mask in a hospital if required. A lot of people in hospital have no choice but to be there and could well be very ill and catching something like the flu and C/19 whilst a inconvenience to the likes of us could push the very old and very sick over the edge if they already have an existing condition, which is generally why they would be in hospital already. Neither of these groups, a small minority in the UK should be popping out to Tesco for some Milk and bread anyway.
  14. No, I dont think so. But its always the way with some folks. Band legitimate reasoning in with the crazies to discredit the argument.
  15. Ive always fount it the complete opposite. Ebay and Paypal always look after the purchaser and not the seller. I sold a V8 a year ago. Made it perfectly clear its collection only or arrange your own courier. The purchaser agreed, paid me a little extra for a pallet and cargo straps. I waited and waited for him to arrange collection but he was working over-sea's. Then 3 months later I get a request to cancel the order, which I say no to. The moneys already been spent and a deals a deal. So he goes through ebay and paypal, who after a lot of back and fourth and reviewing the working in the add agree with me he is in the wrong but as I still have the engine they are refunding him. Happens again and again. I just bought a Polytunnel. The cover seems to be missing some fasteners, I ask the seller to replace or refund the cover. They refuse and say its past the return date (I was working away) So I told him its ok, I'll just get my money back from paypal. He dragged his heels and never countered my arguments as we both know full well paypal would side with me. I only asked for the money for the cover to be replaced, not the whole Polytunnel. Sold a Honda GX390, described the shaft as 1". He said its 25mm and wanted a full refund. I instantly knew I was screwed. He got his full refund from paypal. I never accept paypal now and insist I pay through it.
  16. Any pics from below? would be good to see the pegs on the half lap and the coach screws. I assume the stretcher is pegged from the top?
  17. I posted something similar earlier. Phase 1, Problem. Create a problem. Phase 2, Reaction. The sheep go ballistic, are cowed and scared then demand something be done. Phase 3, Solution. A solution that suits the agenda, whatever that may be.
  18. Is the stretcher half lapped? What holds the top on? Dowels?
  19. Love it! What thickness is the Slab? Looking forward to seeing the finish on it. I bet it really pops! Edit; I'll pop back to this one for when I make my Garden table. I have a nice few Slab's of Beech that I'm gonna use.
  20. How did you come to that conclusion based on what was written in the tweet?
  21. As much as you can. Whats the other local guys charging? Is there a surplus or shortage of firewood in the area?
  22. Looks like a nice clean bit. 6 foot is really a bit short for anything really. Someone would take it off your hands and mill it maybe? But being residencial it could well be full of metal that would damage chains or cutting blades. But I doubt anyone would pay for it? With Ash die Back there is literally hundreds and hundreds of tons of the stuff flooding the market. Im not completely clued up on what Ash costs per Ton roadside but lets say £100, wont be more than this and may be significantly less. You have about 450kg there max. So you have £45 worth of Ash there, could be less. Thats if you can get it to the side of the road. If you cant move it then you'll have to pay someone to do so, which I'll guess they want more than £45 for. So yeh, its firewood.
  23. One is a nice piece of furniture that you ripped off the internet and took credit for. What you’ve just posted now is a plank of wood and a badly shaved arm.
  24. Damn. Lesson learned I guess. Still, bed side cabinets will be cool.
  25. Post it up!
