  1. Now thats a great idea! I have a Stihl Backpack one that would be perfect for that. Normally on a drive home the Mill self cleans though.
  2. we use it off-shore for cleaning electrical connections before the termination is ran into the Well. I mill a bunch of Stika and just use washing up-liquid. Sparkly clean blade every time. Way cheaper too.
  3. No, it’s a semi-temp solution for the drainpipes coming off of the roof. Currently the roadside drain is collapsed so the Septic is having to be pumped out to the back of the property with a pump and flat switch. All the stone drains for the down pipes where choked full and with the roadside drain being blocked there was nowhere for the rainwater to go either. So the lads put a pump with a float switch in with a chamber to handle the rainwater will the Council pull their fingers out. (Two years and counting)
  4. It’s quite a fun day out. My 2 year old loves going around the garden looking for treasure. We’re getting a bunch of drainage and landscaping done just now so lots of fresh turned over topsoil to check over.
  5. I know. I’d rather have good second hand gear than new and inferior.
  6. Luck of the draw really. Like many things I buy it was second hand. Cost me £100.
  7. Ive always fancied getting the Mr Bill Mods done to my IDX Pro but I hardly ever use the damn thing. Ho straigh forward is the Mod? Ive seen some pictures but not sure what components Id need. I guess you need a steady hand with the old Soldering Iron? Being that I have the Pro I believe it has 30% more depth over the IDX Classic. So might not be required anyway?
  8. Ive got a Whites IDX Pro. Not found much, or had much time to look but as we've been getting some drainage work done in the garden we had it out for an hour last night. Found a Musket Ball, a few 1850's to 1930 coins and an old Whistle.
  9. Isopropanol Id assume.
  10. Anyone else use washing-Up Liquid? @Big J suggested that to me when milling Larch etc. i use it all the time now. It also keeps the blade nice and clean. Ive also seen folk suggesting Car Wax Shampoo. Ive used this as well. The idea being you get the cleaning/cutting action of the Washing-up liquid but also the waxing properties to prevent rust on the blades etc. It seems to work too.
  11. So Dave @Johnsond built me a cracking Aluminum Router Sled and Ive finally got around to using it. Milling an Oak Slab that will become a Headboard for a bed. Worked very well and the HDPE sliders are a great addition. '
  12. Yeh, still waiting on that pic as well.
  13. The only thing Les has proved is what a plonker he is. Still waiting on him posting a single picture of something he's actually made out of wood. Other than sanding two planks.
  14. Health and Safety gone mad. Most likely some office goons bought himself a woodburner and decided to split his own logs and chopped his fingers off.
  15. Thats 2-3days milling there. Id be a minimum of £720-£1080 but you're way to far away for me.
  16. Ive seen a shed load of threads on folk in the US using the Farmtec G660's for Milling and putting an insane number of hours on them. One guy just posted on a FB group that his has died after 1800 hour of Milling. I have some Ash Slabs to mill in the near future and they are 36". Might get one as they are about $350.
  17. Friend and Landlady sounds like either the best combo in the world or the worst.
  18. @Big J has processor grade oak for sale. Might be good enough for fencing? Im busy milling Larch for Fencing. Its amazing how fast 10t disappears and what you have to show for it.
  19. Slightly worried you noticed that and thought it was exciting enough to make a thread on the subject.
  20. I need to look into what deals are out there as well. (If any) If none then it’s worth looking at what the insurance is for a £150 a month PCP car is over an older car.
  21. When I was at tech one lad had a band new Citroen Saxo, PCP maybe? Anyway, the insurance was included. My daughter soon turns 17 as well and we've put aside a couple of grand for lessons etc. We'll start looking for a new PCP deal and see if they include insurance. Even if they dont is astonishing how much cheaper insurance is for a brand new car over one 3-7 years old.
  22. Which is ironic as Landrover ripped off the original Jeep. Jeeps are still a far superior 4x4 anyway.
  23. Was asked to Mill six Oak logs for a local lad. Told him I could do it for £400 or half the wood, which seems to be a cardinal sin here. [emoji3] Anyway, he let me keep 2/3 of the slabs I milled. Seems like it was a worthwhile day in the end. Some of the logs maxes the mill out and had to be trimmed down a bit. All in the pissing rain that never stopped all day. Soaked to the bone. The slabs below where what I ended up with.
  24. Add to the fact Abbott could not even manage to put on a matching pair of shoes when going out in public gives me enough of an indication of what her input would have been.
