Cheers. I wonder if I bagged it up and put it for sale at the roadside folk would buy it? Honesty box type thing? Worse comes to the worst they steal it and save me having to dispose of it.

Nice edit, and no sawdust can be chippings from a chainsaw or more fine like you get from a Bandsaw. Both are commonly referred to as sawdust. Stop trying to be smart Leslie, it really does not suit you.

Not really. Wood shavings are often preferred to sawdust for pet bedding because the very fine particles in sawdust can cause respiratory problems for all animals

I think it needs to be dry. So could be a problem I guess? Might be better running the stove on planer shavings? Like I say, i just burn it just now.

Burn it in a big pile with lashings of Red Diesel. I'll build a Sawdust Stove when I build myself a workshop, but that will only account for a fraction of whats produced. If Im milling Oak or Cherry then I keep a bagful back for the Smoker. I throw a wheelbarrow full in with the Chickens now and again.

Yeh, its a good option on a rot resistant wood like Larch. But a 2X8" bit of Untreated Spruce? Its not gonna make a blind bit of difference. 5 minutes with a Burner on a Scaff board thats made outta the shittiest white wood is not gonna magicly gonna give you 5 years of service. Knock yourself out. Or Just bite the bullet and get some real sleepers in there if its a long term bed. -

I heard what you're saying and appreciate your personal experience matches my own. I cant comment why a sizable percentage or Oregon Chain users have reported hardened teeth? I guess its a conspiracy'? Based on the conspiracy and the pennies difference I'll just stick to the Stihl Chains.

Absolutely. Six and two threes if if you ignore the less than perfect rep Oregon chains get. Better than Rotaek, worse than Stihl. Pays your money and take an educated chance.

Slightly harder means slightly more longevity I guess? (as you mention) Not really noted the hardness being an issue when sharpening to be honest. You get a nice feeling when you know you've taken off the perfect sliver. The metallurgy feels just right, be that at tech school (flat and square) Off-shore when you've just pulled a trick outta the bag that saved the rig $250,000 or when a new file glides through a cutter and takes the perfect bite right away. Id happily use both as well. From the very few Oregon Chains Ive used Ive never had an issue other than feeling like Ive cheaped out and feeling a little dirty.

Ive not used much Oregon. Ive just seen a bunch of threads mentioning them and hardened teeth. Mostly after folk complaining about rotatek chains. With the price difference between Stihl and Oregon being pennies I dont see the need to risk it.

yeh, with so many hardened teeth my dust extractor can handle all the sawdust I make.

Seems a bit odd to say you'll use nothing other than Oregon considering you've not tried what many consider one one the better chains on the market? I'm no better, I tend to just use Stihl and avoid Oregon because in my mind its an interior brand. But Id but Oregon if it had a good reputation. Ive seen more and more folk mention hard teeth on Oregon chain though. This must be the third thread in as many years about Oregon chains yet Ive not heard on about Stihl chains. (Im no Stihl Fanboi) I'll buy whatever gets the job done.
