  1. Does not bode well. Less (slabs) is more sometimes.
  2. Ive a few slabs with the same iron staining. Was gonna use it for carcassing or something like that. It actually works quite well as a feature. Calling it "blue Oak" will maybe bring in the customers.
  3. Managed to knock out over 40 slabs. All 2-3”. One log had some “Roughty Rot”. The Farmer can keep them. 🤣
  4. Some Milling at a customers today. To some it’s Brown Oak, to me it’s just Oak. 🤣 Splitting the timber with the owner. Works for me.
  5. 1, Is it in demand? Id say not. Whilst Beech can be nice when Milled I really do not think there is much of a market for it. Not like Oak and Elm. Some will say that they get customers that will buy slabs based on the grain and features alone. My (limited) experience is customers know what they want and thats the end of that. Ive literally just had a phone call for 10m x 650mm of Elm, never had anyone ask for Beech apart from a few small pieces for making pens etc. 2, You'd need a bigger saw than that for 1m wide beech. Ive only heard good things about the Panther Mills and will be getting one as soon as they are back in Stock. Unless you're planning on doing a lot of Milling you're gonna be investing a serious amount of cash for next to no return. 3, If you do mill it then 3-4" Slabs.
  6. Think the lead pellets would be too small for the detector to bother with. The tone would tell you its a very small amount of metal.
  7. Hmmm, now you mention it it sure looks like that. 😮 Not sure if it was just the angle of the video though? Something to watchout for though. Yeh, have a couple of Samoyeds. Good mouse and rat catchers, and moles too.
  8. Plug swapped out this morning and had a wee play. Happy with how it cuts, did not have any kick back issues but the guard can be a bit fiddly as its on the wrong side. I knew this was an issue from seeing a few youtube video's. 6-1/4" cut in the vid and just over 4" at 45 degree's. video-1614866690.mp4 video-1614865630.mp4
  9. If I was selling a product thats what Id say as well. I hear VW said there was no cheating with their diesel emissions. Till they where caught with their panties down. Id need thicker knee pads than you wear Saul if I was gonna get down on my knees and swallow what that from the horses mouth.
  10. 3 foot most liley half rotten fencing with 3" posts 6' long. But when its pointed out to him how atrocious this is its not his fault. Its the customers fault. If you need the customers knowledge and experience to be able to define your job you have to know you're well outta your depth.
  11. Im comfortable enough in my sexuality to be flattered that you instantly thought about posting multiple messages about my 'lunch-box' when I post a 'selfie' Do you want my only-fans account?
  12. Legless, you just admitted your old dears not up for any rumpy pumpy on another thread. Could it be that she's not happy with the end product? I hear that the Scottish Window Cleaner is looking for a new hire?
  13. You could well be right? Im sure I seem them at £1500? But maybe that was for the Chain Mortiser? Not a clue. Its an oldr design. Makita was the only 16" offering for years I think? The one I bought was built in 07. Im struggling to make a sexual pun out of that but I feel there is one there some where.
  14. This had to be the worlds biggest build up to a disappointment since Kevin Costner starred in Waterworld.
  15. What was that comment about small pee pee's you just posted? My My legless, you do like to line them up for me.
  16. You got me there Les. I like to re enforce that by also thinking about buying a 2018 Dodge Ram next Summer.
  17. Nothings rude with me. [emoji16] Hopefully it runs on the 110v transformer and has no detrimental effects. I paid $500 for the saw and about $250 shipping and tax. I think it’s £1500 here new?
  18. I watched a few YouTube vids from Folk importing them to the U.K. and running them on a transformer. Seems to work? I based all my knowledge on this. [emoji3] I don’t think it’s soft start no. It does not pick up much speed at the best of times as far as I can see from the videos.
  19. I’ve not fired it up yet as I need to swap out the plug. Will have a look the morn. Spend the day installing larch cladding on my brothers office/workshop then milling a load more. But that’s the plan for this too. Got some 5” think Ash that I wanna rip a straight edge off to get it on my bandsaw. I’m gonna see if clamping a ladder to the slab works.
  20. Hey Eggy. It’s 110v. Need to swap out the US household plug for a U.K. 110v transformer plug.
  21. It’s a Makita as well. 16 5/8”. Not readily available in the U.K. not planning a track for it but will just screw/clamp a straight edge if I need to. Will mostly be using it for my first attempts at timber framing along side the Makita chain Mortiser I got through Johnson
  22. Good on ya! I’ve just bought the same machine but it’s a first gen Grindlux 4000. Needs a few new bits before I can try it but looking forward to that. The joys of buying off of eBay but thankfully paid with PayPal so got most of the cash back.
  23. Just arrived from the US. Needs a new plug and then I can have a play,. Can cut 6" at 90 degree's.
