  1. Are back / lumber supports worth it?? Just asking, as a couple of weeks ago, on lifting a lump of wood off the floor no bigger than you boots, something I my elbow went 'ping'!! It stopped me dead in my tracks, lost the feeling in my hand for a few minutes and so had to stop for half an hour.... I've since started to wear one of those elasticated arm supports to help ease the continued pain / recovery, but I'm now thinking 'prevention' now we're back on the logs over the winter.... Are lumber supports worth it - help in any way..??
  2. That'll make two of us then rover... And we're only a few more miles north of you....
  3. I got a LWB Shogun. Would I have another Mitsi? NO, sorry. Rust! They rust really badly dead easily. And then mechanically, they a good designed car but build with poorly made parts that break easily - or make that rot and fall off too... She has the Outlander PHEV. A lease car, but again I again wouldn't actually buy one. VERY thin paint, that easily chips, loads of nooks and crannys where dirt is going to collect and then very soon rust (again). And under the bonnet?? You open - you look - and then close it! They are no longer a 'fix yourself' car... They're a take it to a main dealer only garage and have deep filled pockets at the ready car.... Mate has a Ranger, slightly older than mine (and worked harder) with a few more miles on. And it's in way better nick than my Shogun.....
  4. Strip him of his 'Sir' title would be a good start..... And a £1000 to shoot a Beaver?? Wave a 'cheap' golden carrot, and 'cheap' labour will apply.....
  5. Done nothing for WEEKS!!! Been harvesting, then just as we finished that, I got called up by another farmer to do a load of drainage ditch / pipe work.... Should be done tomorrow (Friday)... Then it'll just be all hands on deck playing catch up.... Edit... On my own too... Boss goes away for a week Saturday - back for 4 days, then away again for another week!!!
  6. They don't technically 'leave' here... They just move about on the industrial estates - go from empty / derelict unit car park to the next. At the cost to the tax payer (again)!! Place I used to work for (plant hire co), I'd go about digging random trenches and holes to try and stop them pitching up.. Boss did it off his own back to the praise of other companies around the industrial estates, but the council stopped us....
  7. Might just start praying for that 4 months of snow / cold weather that was predicted on the internet a few days ago then.....
  8. .....Still get badgered even when she's out via the phone! Mans worst invention... The mobile phone....!
  9. With winter / colder weather coming, what happens?? Do they hibernate or die off to a mere few (wasp do this don't they??), then breed again come spring time?
  10. As in giving it the 'greenhouse effect..? Sounds possible. Neighbour's a landscaper, and come winter, he does logs.... He's got a bit of land with old greenhouses on it, and piles his wood in it (loose) to dry. Says he gets really good results quite quickly...
  11. I got the Transcend Drivepro 200 in my car.... Bought on line through Halfords website as a 'bundle'... Came with permanent stick on mount, but in the bundle comes a sucker mount. Got it so I could swap it into the tractor / other vehicles come harvest time... 'Just in case' - especially after last years near miss.
  12. Strimmers spin anti-clockwise. So if I'm seeing the photo right, I can see the chamfered edges facing upwards, so as said then, the blade should be flipped over. But I've NEVER seem a blade like that anyway! Do you have to be 'brave' to use a blade like that, that also has 'wings'..?
  13. Could you 'mod it', so instead of it winching directly into clashing with the table, but have the winch threaded through a simple 'swing arm', where it winches straight up, and then all you do is swing the arm / ring onto the table...??? Just a thought...
  14. Going to look for one when we're next in there then....
  15. 2 or 3 men, a dog and 120 TONS of cargo..!!!??? How big are them boats / where does it all fit in??
  16. Is it different 'special buys' for different pars of the country?? Not seen them advertised (yet??) up here??
  17. Boss started doing logs before I joined him... He's a farm business too, but he diversified into horses 35+ years ago as he was losing land due to house building. Was a chain saw and cheap tractor mounted hydraulic splitter when he started, so had the tractors sitting all winter doing nowt. Story goes, he only split for his and his dad's wood burners. Then people started asking the 'I see you got wood - do you sell logs..?' The original farm was on a main road, so people could see the wood piled up... Year on year since though, he's had to expand quickly and get a processor to keep up with demand...
  18. When I was little (from middle school age), my dad got a 13' Morbass (sp?), fishing boat with a 9.9hp Johnson out board, but he soon upgraded to a 20hp Mercury out board. Still remember it quite well... A bit of advice he was given when starting out... Get a radio, and the qualification that goes with it... It's more important than a 'fish finder'.....
  19. Finish 'around' 5pm, but... Doesn't bother me though, as me too can see from the fields the mental rush hour going on, on the roads around our farm.... And by the time I'm finished, rush time's gone, and the roads are empty for me getting home....
  20. It's 'half converted'... Has a row of seats behind fronts, so he can get his golf mates and their gear still into it when they go out... So we use a trailer.....
  21. Boss finally got his van sign written finally... It's only taken him THREE YEARS to do it though....
  22. Why are shows always at the wrong end of the country (for us anyway), and at the wrong time of year too...??
  23. Was just thinking out loud.... You seem to not be able to buy one from ebay... All the equipment / add ons', but not the actual rifle...
