  1. Just with it being a 'firearm' of sorts.... OK, it's below 12ft lb's. But it could be 'modded'....
  2. Shouldn't this have been posted in members only, instead of an 'anyone can see' section? ?
  3. Ours goes as 'cheaper' kindling'...
  4. But many a farmer may like a beer token or two.... He has said too he's not looking for somewhere to tip, just needs the stuff hauled....
  5. Go find a farmer... I was sitting in a tractor and trailer on harvesting when I read this las night... The 'schemes' that were mentioned put simply are... Before using the trailer for cereals after 'other work', it must be washed (pressure washer) inside and out. Other than that, we use ours for all sorts throughout other times of the year....
  6. So true... Our Agronomist says you can use every chemical on the market 'promising' it can deal with mares tail, but let you down. Only way is to dig it out. But dig deep. REALLY DEEP!!!!! To make sure you get rid of the finest of roots...
  7. And here's me thinking of when the time comes I was going to change the Shogun to a ranger.....?
  8. Foot operated?? People should be shot who use them! Petrol engines you don't like??? And so it's a compact tractor (or similar) you like....? A PTO driven pump then. (I wouldn't rely on their own pump for needing constant flow to work a splitter).. Return flow via a cooler radiator with it's fan driven by the pumps hydraulics too....
  9. Why I'm tired..?? Because previous employer*, had me flogged all day (HGV driving / plant hire co), when it came to loading the truck, you man handled the tools etc, and digger buckets (for machines up to 3 tons) on and off the truck. NO forklift assistance 'allowed', just a little trolley.... Didn't do it for long (young and dumb, too afraid to leave - as he played with your head), but it's been enough to 'feel the effects' now... Now just take it a bit easier, and if something needs lifting, get a machine to do it - regardless!!!! *Employer, that's if you could call him that?? I'll not say on an open forum what I want to REALLY say!
  10. I know someone who's made a pretty penny - or two out of these wind turbines.... North Sea Logistics - Specialist transfer of personnel and equipment to and from offshore turbines. We're getting one soon too, 65 miles off the Northumberland coast at the Dogger Bank fishing grounds.....
  11. But won't it still push up prices 'somewhere along the line' still??
  12. Thanks Rich... We now have a processor, a Rytec eco800. So everything we get from the sawmills fits through that (we've asked them for nothing bigger than 12inch diameter). But everything else has to be done by hand, hence asking about splitters... We have a vertical single bladed one ATM, which now looks 'inadequate' for what we need now.....
  13. Bring it over here for a bit of lawnmower racing!
  14. We now have a 'thumb' on an excavator, turning that into a grab... An old photo pre processor days, giving you an idea..... But if we get a (larger) horizontal, we could load several bits and push them through much faster.... Thoughts??
  15. Parents have been this year recently for a birthday holiday. They say it's expensive, To live and holiday there....
  16. What's everyone's opinions on vertical Vs horizontal splitters?
  17. But then once the dust settles, the seller gives in - but damages the goods just before you give 'cash on collection'...?
  18. I know from personal 'experience' a drum type flail mower DOESN'T work..... So I don't know if a rotary type will work....?
  19. We use Chikara around the farm yard and buildings etc... Chikara Tough Weed Herbicide 150g - Total Herbicide - Herbicide - Shop by Product - Rigby Taylor Along side a glyphosate weedkiller. The Chikara works year round as a 'barrier', but the glyphosate does the initial 'first' weedkilling.
  20. Looks similar to the heap I need to get through....
  21. You got me thinking now (again actually), of maybe modifying the finger on ours into a better 'clamp'.....
  22. Hope not! Look like a stunner of a tree......
  23. I've just re-watched your video... Noticed on your processor that the clamp on yours is two fingers, but on ours it's only one... So think of it this way, hold a pencil on a desk with only one finger in the middle, how easy is it to 'twist' that pencil under your finger? Sometimes I think this is our problem, the log is able to move under the single clamp / finger..... And answering better days question, on ours, the machine doesn't stop, it's the CP800 'eco', not the CP1000 that does have the switches for stopping the machine if you lift a guard etc.
  24. Do you suffer many 'jams' with a chain blade, compared to a saw blade? With ours having a saw blade, if the wood moves - even slightly, it jams instantly and so you're running for the PTO stop button or you'll be burning out the belts. Also, what's the rough cost of the chains and bars for your processor - compared to a saw blade?
  25. OK, a 'real world' answer please..... How often do you have to sharpen / change the saw chain? We have a Rytec processor, and they say you can do 300hrs with that before sharpening / re-tipping. But anything with a chain blade, people say you spend half the day changing / sharpening chains.....
