  1. He hit YOU, when YOU were on the roundabout?? And then he's asking you for £cash?? !! I would have asked him to climb into the chipper, as that's where the cash is! My dad had the same kind of 'tryer' 2 years ago when he was shunted.
  2. It WAS an auction. .... Edit.... it's in March. I got the date wrong
  3. Does any of you use / have some kind of screen / trommel drum that sifts out the trash when on processor splitting?? Asking, as I'd just like to see a few photos of them to give the boss an idea on what we need built, (as I doubt he'll buy one). We seem to be suffering mould* on the logs in the stacks, and I think it's down to the trash mixed in with the logs when tipping into the pens we built. *Remember mould being mentioned, caused by lack of air flow, so put 2 and 2 together....

You not sorted your upside down camera yet William?
  5. I've noticed the main 'Home' page won't fit the width of my computer screen. Always on the right side too. On the tabs on the right, Arbsafe, Merchandise etc, they're cut through bang in the middle of the tabs.... Any ideas why...??
  6. Someone round here does a similar thing, but they're selling it as READY TO BURN wood! !!! You fill your own bags and you then pay them for how much you've got. ....
  7. Don't think so. Think it's only 10ton. Killed it back on Monday though, the piston had come away from the rod. Linden, who does our hydraulic work said they've never seen that happen, usually it's just the seals, not that nut. But, on the bright side, got it back Tuesday and after a good day splitting that elm, I've only got a handful left to to et through and it's back onto processor sized stuff.!!
  8. Cheers for the link.... Boss maybe interested in the fuel tank....
  9. The one (I broke), but is now repaired and going again, is just a 10ton one. It's coped with everything we've thrown at it. One thing we did learn is, if the wood's REALLY knotty / gnarly, cut the ring thinner than normal.
  10. Cold, dry and sunny. But what's this about an 'icy blast' on it's way?? Or is it just typical internet bull...???
  11. That forgotten part of England, Blyth Northumberland Alec. ....
  12. Did this today though.... Splitter just randomly stopped, and on taking it apart, the ram fell out. You could see the piston up inside the cylinder still.
  13. Here's some photos BTW.... Quite a mess I think....
  14. Agree with what you said about Geoff Hamilton, you really saw him get stuck into the mud and clart etc. But Ruskins, boss would pay for that kind of work - typical farmer, sorry.....
  15. Just a quick post from my phone... The WHOLE PLACE is getting flattened! ! Trees, buildings, sheds round the back are going to make way for a whole load of houses. Only the front wall is being kept as some kind of boundary. And we all here think it's a Victoria plum tree too.
  16. Not got a photo, but does this street view image help...??? http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/streetview?size=640x640&pano=cd05ioBoVszn0qG0s_z6gw&heading=-10.753990013980638&fov=44.99999911222804&pitch=-0.8932522080318024&sensor=false Try and make / work out the trees up along the building wall that has the red doors from the traffic cone, you may get the idea....
  17. The tree's only about 8inches in diameter at the widest point, and all the other growth is just made up of wild / out of control branches. Maybe you're all right then.... Just start a fresh, because it's no longer being trained up the wall and it's peeled away from it, it's got more dog leg shaped branches in it, it looks just not worth it....
  18. We want (if possible), to take two fruit trees with us when we move farms. One's a plum and the other's a cherry. Not sure of the varieties though, if that makes a difference. They're not huge either, just badly maintained (should say not at all more like here) over the last 30+ years that I know of. The plum used to be espalier grown up a south facing wall, but grew to a size, it 'peeled away' donkeys years ago and was then never put back. So, if I prune 'heavily' now, could I still be able to move them?? OK, I we may lose a lot of fruiting branches for now until it grows new stuff, but we would really like to take them with us....
  19. Had to mod our 6 way spitting attachment... As the 'wings' that made up the splitting blades, were made of double edged cutting metal, instead of single edged, so that when you're splitting the wood going between the wings, they didn't 'nip' and were then split away from each other. I'll try and get pictures next time I'm using it to show what I mean better.......
  20. Looks like it's starting to tail off for us... Was expecting boss back off holidays with a 'list' of orders. Didn't happen... Guess it's because people we supply are the type where a wood burner is just a nice 'extra' along side their gas central heating, not their main source of heating / hot water....?
  21. We made our own tray bagger to get ourselves going. Still use it today, but maybe not for much longer... We (or the boss more like) is looking into buying the kindling in as it looks like it cheaper that way in time / costs etc...
  22. I'd be careful that way.... Someone else may jump at the chance of the wood. I've found there's always someone else willing to cut their own throat to muscle in on stuff these days*..... *Previous employer experience......
  23. JEEEEEZZ!!!! Neighbour has one of those - and still uses it!!! How the hell is that still legal??
