  1. You get more 'toys' on an import too sometimes..... Not sure if any mk2's or now mk3's are now being imported anyway...??? If you get the chance of an import, service it yourself - change anything 'fluid', and get it undersealed sharpish to prevent the rust even starting as that's usually their downfall....
  2. So I'm not alone.... Did a bit similar to that this week alongside the elm. Feel / felt your pain.... One thing I did learn when ringing it, make the rings no thicker than about 5 inches Any thicker and the splitter will just laugh and burst a seal instead....
  3. Bummer.... We're at the wrong end of the country..............
  4. We get ALOT of girls in, with their boyfriends in tow... Usual question... 'I'm looking for...' And we stop them there and say 'WEDDING CAKE STAND!!!!' (Seemed to be all the rage last year, stopped counting how many people came and asked that...). Anyway, on my own this day, and she continued... 'I like it 12 inches' - not I'd like the stand 12inches in diameter!!!!! Boy friend was not in earshot at THAT time, and we both folded!!!!
  5. It's not them trees that were talked about on radio 2 in the Sheffield area was it???
  6. Not easier to sell it on here, rather than 'pay' for a chipper???
  7. That splitter's getting a bit hard up now.... The valve block has a few leaks now... When you stop using it for a while, the blade drops over time. And also during general use it has a constant drip from the block. We're not worried about it though, she's done some tonnage of wood so leaks now are expected. Maybe time for an overhaul / new seals.... As for the thumb on the digger, it was made with inch plate, laser cut to make the 'teeth'. Scaff bar for the cross members, and a small ram that's been lying on the shelf for years..... Bit of welding and job done. Just can't believe how much that has saved my back / lifting etc...
  8. I'm on here too, as I have a LWB 3.2 'Elegance' for towing the caravan.... Mitsubishi Pajero and Shogun Owners Club - Free to join pajero, shogun and montero owners club I think mk2's are getting thin on the ground now, and the ones you do see may be for sale 'for a reason'.... Usually rust / rot. The engines though, 'if' looked after will go on fairly well. The biggest bug bear I have with Mitzi's, is RUST! Panels / joins / bolts and bush housings rust and seize BADLY! If I had to change it tomorrow, I'd go for a pickup now, she's got the 'good' car, mines the tow-er / workhorse.....
  9. Gone quiet here this week. Only 3 cube in for Friday (so far). Boss buggered of to Portugal on Tuesday to go golfing as someone dropped out of the group due to illness... He usually goes with them in March / April in the quiet spell between the end of the logs and the beginning of the farm work, but got this chance to go and so.....
  10. Set this up for doing the oversized elm. Worked an absolute treat!!! Pick the rings with the thumb, roll the rings along to the splitter and off you go.... No heavy lifting anymore. Came home with my spine still intact.
  11. Do what I do, cut the bend / elbow out, then it goes no problem through the processor...
  12. Been doing 'that' elm... But looking on the bright side, I only got 4 bits* to get through... Bits*, as in somewhere over 3ft in diameter, but only 5ft long....
  13. BULL CRAP SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the sounds of it. Where is / was his ID etc? Sounds like he was wanting in to case your house for future burglaries! Probably seen that you're a tree surgeon, so maybe wondering 'where' your gear maybe stored.... Surely you should have had a letter beforehand informing you of TV licence issue? Also, I've read somewhere you don't need a TL if you only watch TV via 'catchup / iplayer' etc...?? But I think that 'loophole' maybe getting plugged soon.
  14. OH's just come in. Says it's windier now than it was before.... Plenty wood came in from the TS's already today. Wonder how much will come in tomorrow...????
  15. Howling gale here.... Tried to rain, but the wind kept it moving away, FAST!!! And also been peppered by bits of chip in the yard from the pile, and that's way over the other side of the farm!!!
  16. Google 'Rolling Coal'.... What I can't believe is how the H do they keep them in a straight line when the front end lifts and twists...?? Also, you noticed they're actually pulling a loaded trailer and up a gradient...??

    RIP Terry

Same thoughts here TCD, now at the end of January and how many have passed so far this year?? Too many is such a short period of time.... Just to add, OH lost an aunt to brain cancer too 2 weeks ago. So it's made us notice deaths a bit more.....
  18. How do I then break up the pictures, to insert info....???
  19. What went wrong with posting the pictures...???? I used photobucket and posted the pics using the link icon etc.... Used this way on other forums, so is it a different way on here???
  20. The money they've thrown at G-o-t, surely a bit of CGI will fix the problem for when they film there next time....????
  21. Boss is thinking of getting a biomass boiler fitted for his farm house from these guys... Welcome | Central Boiler Anyone else got one / reviews / info etc...???
  22. Load your own rounds! You'll be surprised at how much more accurate they are when you 'fine tune' the powder and maybe change the head..... Wonder if your mate knows my mate, but he shoots (not as often as he used to), Ponteland ranges. Member of 1 or 2 clubs somewhere over the Tyne too.... That reminds me...... Write The Lowther Show, Penrith on the calendar..... Missed it last year.....
  23. THAT bad?? Worse than this elm I'm arguing with??
