  1. Did a couple of hours of processing today. Had a load of sycamore and some decent willow to do. Really not been in the mood for log cutting chopping/ processing lately but it needs doing! How has everyone else been getting on?
  2. Snow!!??!! Us folk down south have forgotten what that is, instead we just get rain, rain rain and more rain! As for us we've been pretty busy, busiest we've been at this time year ever. But it's been consistent with ought being rushed of your feet. Probably doing around 50 bags maybe a little more a week as well. Also been a few new customers that have just had a log burner installed, we delivered to 3 of them in one day, maybe just a coincidence but found that pretty amazing, shows there's no sign of the log stove installation industry slowing up which is good!
  3. Yh hopefully your right, I for one hope some is "in the air tonight" and wake up to a nice cover of snow, but I doubt it And good choice of music btw.
  4. And they say we're running out of wood....... no wonder when they do that to it! I find it hard that no one working there had the forsight to stop and think that maybe 1 it's a shame to mulch good clean lumber and 2 they're throwing money away!
  5. We have a large stock of seasoned ready split firewood that we've had people buy off of us and sell on, some have bought it bagged others loose. I will pm you
  6. Due to weather and being busy delivering and bagging logs up I haven't been doing much processing. It also seems to be a very wet and warm winter so far which I for one am not looking forward to. Would love some frost to firm the ground up and boost sales!
  7. Some good pics buddy! I had some decent sized oak the other day was about 16" Diameter cutting it at 8" length putting it though my 8 way head, it is so much more productive, but even my 60hp international was groaning a little, didn't think the chain was fully sharp as hit a bit of dirt.
  8. I wonder how the proper big companies like certainly wood have been effected by more and more firewood merchants starting up. We've been doing it for around 5 years so we're pretty new and since we started with had a few people stop and a few people start up so it's evened itself out.
  9. Starting the next lot of logs today, it's a big job of arb waste but a lot of it is processable which means my dale will be busy. The length of the pile was aprrox 178ft by 24ft wide by an average height of around 3ft so that gives u some idea on how large it is, aim is to get it all done by Xmas! #WishMeLuck haha
  10. Haha I see, if I was to name it I'd call it something like iris the international lol
  11. Ahhh sorry I see why you think that, I meant " been* not Ben
  12. I haven't named my international, why do u ask?? And I would definitely not call it Ben haha
  13. The Oak I cut down was for ourselves. We're using it for oak pillars/uprights on 2 porches
  14.

  15. Ben pulling logs out for milling the other day, some nice lengths of oak!
  16. It seems like you have! Although I bet there would be some great stories to be told, maybe quite an interesting thread haha
  17. Also watching that on country file I bet the contractors went through a few blades on their disc mower and I bet the tines on the rake and Heston baler took a bit of a battering. I'm thinking of going into my own haymaking and one thing I'm sweating about I'd some of our horse fields are a bit rutty, imagine what them brake fields were like, god knows what could be hidden!
  18. I accidentally left I log on top of a log burner against the chimney/ flue and it caught alight, I was in the room so didn't cause any problems. But I leave logs near the fire and it works a treat, definitely works with putting warmer logs on a fire
  19. Thanks that's a good point about it possibly giving a chance for us to catch up on tree planting and after watching it I've actually turned to the opinion of it I think it would be better used for biomass where you could maybe dry it and burn it in biomass boilers?? Never like the idea of burning wood to dry wood
  20. Really I would think it's best if machines like this are hired with operators, although if it's hired to log suppliers u would hope they would respect the machine knowing that a blunt chain will mean they will cut less wood thus costing them more money and a bit of an ear ache haha
  21. Ahh well done!! If you don't mind me asking what sort of volumes have u been selling since u began, for example we sold something like 10 cube our first year now near 1000
