  1. Anyone been working flat out processing or cutting and splitting their logs lately, I've been on and off with it working it around other jobs but as it's a fine Sunday morning with lovely clear blue sky I had better get on with it all before the weather turns!
  2. Saw them at lama this year, only thing that put me off was the build quality didn't look amazing and they are quite expensive, however the concept of turning effectively rubbish into a saleable product I like, although you'd probably have to charge less foe a bulk bag of branch logs than normal logs, but I reckon a lot of customers would buy it especially as they like a "cheaper" alternative
  3. Getting back on with logs I've had piled up sine the start of the year, just want it out of the way now, as for processing with me dalen2054 I haven't used it in like 3weeks as haven't has the wood to put through it, literally been all 2ft rings I've got to split!!
  4. And with oil prices going back up hopefully people will burn more again
  5. I'm not taking the pee but that pile is nothing compared to what we have stored!!!!! I for one hope it's an extremely cold winter so we can shift all our stock!! And I love snow
  6. Apart from a few busy days of haymaking been mostly processing logs, was doing a nice load of seasoned oak lengths yesterday but mostly been processing soft wood lately to get it cleared up
  7. Do you cut and put straight in nets or do you bag them by hand as and when u need them?
  8. Brilliant vid mate! I always prefer to see a machine working in a true environment like that instead of all the edited sales vids you see
  9. Just had a casual look through eBay and there seems to be quite a few firewood processors for sale, would this be a sign where people maybe can't get the wood and can't afford the wood to keep them in use or maybe on the flip side there doing so well there getting new machines thus getting rid of the old??? Is anyone on here thinking of buying or selling their processor??
  10. Well someone who usually imports wood then changes and buys timber from the UK in my books means that it shows more for locally produced firewood
  11. I found this thread sorta by accident but I have a dalen 2054 nut have never seen the 2060, couldn't find any vids of it on you tube either! Anyone know where I can see some vids or anyone got one and would like to share there own
  12. Do u have any vids of it going mate, I always prefer to see a vid of the machine working in normal work day conditions instead of the edited commercial sales pitch vids u see on YT where there using perfect wood in perfect conditions!
  13. Any og you definitely going to apf then, I'm thinking about going, never been before but looks and sounds like a good day or days out, especially getting to see some serious kit working and also the competitions etc look good, as I'd only go for 1 day is there any particular day to go that's better that the other days
  14. Then again I'm only splitting 4 way or with 6 way knives
  15. 25 ton splitting ram is more tonnage than the 400 I take it, my dalen 11 and I very rarely struggle with it!
  16. Unfortunately I'm about to process some twisty eucalyptus that got dropped off yesterday, hate processing eucalyptus especially with chainsaw, although once fully seasoned and dry I quite like burning it, for me that just the obvious reason!!
  17. So you've done a bit with it then, any problems or faults with it and likewise anything your really impressed with?? And there's nothing like putting the perfect logs through the processor and see if just munch through it pumping out the logs with ease!
  18. So you get a fair old load on them forwarders then!
  19. How many tonnes have you roughly done with the 480 so far gdh???
  20. The weather has generally been: hot sun, torrential rain, very very hot sun, thunder and lightning, very heavy rain, very humid, then back to that exact cycle again.....
  21. The max force of the splitting ram is 11 tonnes I think, the max diameter it take cutting is 18" but the splitting chamber can take bigger logs, biggest I've put in there is probably 25" logs then obviously keep splitting it down, as for the finished logs we have 2 barns full with logs that were seasoned and dry from last year, as for the fresh we have a long herace fence up in a field and we dump them against that, let em season and dry for year then this time next year we will start filling the barns back up, normally after we've had a good fortnight og baking sun on em, unlike this year so for where it's raining every other day!
  22. Still been busy as we've had quite a bit of arb wood dropped off lately, been cutting all sorts from Oak, to conifer to some willow, poplar and ash that's been feeler about 3/4 years ago and is mostly all very dry and ready to burn apart from the bits that were on the ground at bottom of pile wich had soaked all the moisture up
  23. Looks quite flimsy if u ask me, probably ok for someone doing a few logs for themselves but I doubt it would last in a more commercial role where it's like to get battered a bit with constant tonnage going through it, and I'd say a chainsaw would be quicker anyway, for me that is...
