  1. Been processing a load of arb waste, a mix of everything, best to get it all done before the weather turns, which I hope it turns nice and cold with a few weeks of snow!!!! How have the rest of you been getting on, busy cutting and splitting??
  2. I second that!!! Although so far it had been a bit chilly especially in the mornings and evenings, and out orders have picked up, how have you guys started the firewood season so far, been busy??
  3. Are your trees grown in this country or imported?
  4. We have a ktm hydraulic log splitter with only the one handed operating system and I find that just as quick as u can use you're spare hand to move logs into place quicker
  5. Yep all go in the barns before the weather turns but they're more or less all full as didn't sell as much as we hoped last year and the hay is all in at the minute
  6. Just wondering of anyone knows much about these chippers, value of them second hand but in decent condition and other info like max log size it can take etc
  7. Here's some pics of my dale, used it for a few 8ft or so Lengths of eucalyptus I got from a small job today, the wood had been felled over 2 and a half years ago so pretty well seasoned. Also I tried to upload vids on here but they won't upload, anyone know how to do it???
  8. All I'd say is go round quote it at the price you want and feel it should be and leave the ball in there court, if they try and get you down you need to weigh up if it's viable to do the job cheaper and also if you need the work. I have done a few jobs a bit to cheaply because I needed the work but then looked back and though I slogged me guts out for a not a lot
  9. I've Hever heard of that method before, sounds like a lot less fussing about, do you still use any paper to get the kindling going?
  10. Where abouts are you, we're in a relatively well populated area so adverts in newspapers, and the odd shop windows helps alongside the website
  11. Our internationals have a similar rod on the back but it stays in a fixed position, just goes up and down, I thought it's something to do with releasing the pick up hitch but not sure
  12. I just screw up paper put a few prices and kindling on top, light it up and shut stove door, as our kindling is oak it gets up to a good heat and lasts a while so you don't need much of it to get the logs going and we use quite big knotty logs that are a bit crapoy to sell
  13. As you know it all varies so like today they've just took 4 bulk bags out, yesterday 2 bags to a customer, so at the moment it's just trickling along but hopefully will start picking up, what about yourself?
  14. Tbh I don't know anything about this as it's not my sector but if your selling wood by the cube why not pay people by the cube that way it seem fairer to me also the wood won't change size whereas it looses weight. Also people are rewarded for working harder thus cutting more volume of wood thus earning more money each day
  15. Something we should do more of is making out own posts, then again were limiting the number of horses we have now so..... and god knows how much you would have to pay for good oak posts and stakes, bet there expensive
  16. Also do you think there would be much call for wholesale logs like the guy above is offering, delivered loose loads for the buyer to bag up and sell at whatever quantity they want?? Also would there be much interest in any of you guys buying Un seasoned split logs for you to store, dry and sell yourselves???
  17. I actually love it when the truck is constantly in and our re loading and taking the logs out to order, also we have loads of stock, probably too much as we didn't sell as much as we hoped last winter, especially after we were supposedly going to have the coldest winter in 50years!!!
  18. were there any new dalen processors there, as for the big set ups, im with most of you on not seeing how you can make alll the numbers add up, be good if someone on here has bought a big peice of kit and give us an explanation on how it suits them!!
  19. How many cube would it be and would it be loose I take it
  20. Will be back splitting a load of knotty, heavy pieces of oak, eucalyptus and some chestnut, can't wait!!!!
  21. What ya on about overloaded! Haha, I meant the tailgate of the trailer ain't hitting the ground get so it's fine
  22. Course i can! I think i do have a bid on this thread somewhere but ill do another one soon, been splitting a pile of big rounds that I've piled up and didn't want to do but must be cleared so haven't been using my dale. But next time I do I'll put a video up fur you buddy!
  23. What's the most cube you done in a day with this machine?? And 10 cube plus an hour is some serious output!
  24. We sell our kindling in either 70ltr or 50ltr bulk bag like sacks. All 100 percent kiln dried white oak kindling. All cut at 7-8" in length. We're based in Hertfordshire. Pm for more info if needed
