  1. How where did you get your finger caught on a processor?? I have a firewood processor and the only place I see that is dangerous is putting your hand in the conveyor belt roller Or putting your hand on the chainsaw or the splitting chamber some how activates whilst your hand is in there
  2. My thoughts exactly it is too warm, and where we are it looks to get warmer with heavy rain a gusty wind! The weather I hate most! We've still been consistently delivering everyday without being too over rub, got orders on Xmas eve and every day from the 27th running up to new years day. All I want is a load of frosty and preferably snowy weather!!
  3. Wow 600 acres that's a big clear felling job!
  4. Been doing bits and pieces, not much logging though as been busy with other stuff bit I do need to start getting the work cracked out to clear up some space etc.
  5. For the record I have we have no desire to use a kiln buy it was just an idea where possibly we could become more self sufficient. As to for the mobile kiln I would say a fixed trailer unit would be better.
  6. 1 to 2 quid a cube sounds good to me. If u was to dry logs for someone how much would you charge? , ill ask another question, how much does it roughly cost to produce split firewood. I have never worked this out but I reckon it's around £20 a cube as a rough figure.
  7. I just find it amazing that we have to import kiln dried. Are there not any kiln dried suppliers in the UK where all the wood is cut processed and dried in this country. The mobile kiln sounds like a good idea, but what would they charge to dry? Talking of which roughly how much does it cost to dry your logs per cubic meter?
  8. Keep seeing people ask about importing kiln dried firewood and I had a little idea. Would there not be a gap in the market for someone in this country to do a kiln dry service for other firewood suppliers who don't have a kiln but are in need of dry logs. The idea being someone buys in either ready split firewood and then gets another person to dry for them or they take there own firewood to get it dried. I know there will be the usual issues of transport etc but if they can ship a container full of wood half way around the world I'm sure there can be profit in transporting logs probably no more than 200 miles. Any thoughts?
  9. Gdh you said that's one of your stacks! So how much more do you have?!?! Also it looks to be nice seasoned cord as well, when do you plan on processing that lot.
  10. Half of that pile is around 1-2year seasoned stuff that normally would be in the barn by now but last year we processed a lot of wood as you can see as we kept nearly selling out but as last winter was a bit warmer we didn't sell as much as expected, so 1 barn was still full, of which we have already emptied so a lot of that will start going inside.
  11. How are your piles getting on. Hopefully a lot smaller than before the start of this firewood season
  12. We're based in Hertfordshire and have a green waste licence to take in logs and brush, and any other general green waste. Feel free to pm Mr for more info
  13. Haha it gas been a very good and versatile machine so far. Are you particularly on the look out for a new processor then?
  14. I was thinking off starting off with just a mower and haybob, then getting the contractors to bale. We use both round and conventional bales of hay.

  17. Do you do contracting such as hay or silage making, reason I ask is me nan has contractors to her hay but I'm thinking of doing me self and I'm on the look out for any machinery for sale.
  18. Just saw this thread, we have a large stock of seasoned firewood thats ready cut and split that we can offer to other firewood suppliers wholesale. Please pm for more info, cheers. Also we have kiln dried oak kindling that's all cut to 7.5 to 8 inches. They're in 70ltr or 50ltr bags. The bags are made from the same material as a builders bulk bag. Kind regards, William.
