On the rare occasions i get chains its from elumberman on ebay.Good chains at competative prices. As mick said a couple of quid either way doesnt bother me.

Cant comment on the cabstar but canters are great,used several and cant think of a problem with them. Even the replacement to the canter-the fuso-seems a good all rounder.

Depends where you are.Up here in glasgow good experienced ground staff are difficult to hold onto,they usually go onto climbing to chase the money

In my experience Silver birch dont like hot dry conditions and can also suffer from transplant shock both can result in yellowing leaves. Birch leaves yellow naturally in autumn and fall off but id think its too early for that yet. Do you know what type of soil you have as birch can suffer if they are planted in poorly drained soil- clay etc

In dry conditions you need to soak the earth around the tree daily,also did you put any compost/leaf mulch in before planting. The tree needs some sort of mulch to feed from when just planted.I often use breaking down leaves.

I work for my LA and we are told to leave knotweed on site as it can spread through cuttings- stems/leaves etc

Just go reccy climbes in some smaller trees till you become more confident and then move on to bigger stuff.Just take it low and slow at first,always check and double check all your gear.I d recommend throwing ahead method so you can see your anchor points up close to inspect them before tying in to them. Have fun,walk out on limbs challenge yourself to go a little higher or farther out of your comfort zone each time. Stay safe and always let someone know where you are and when you plan to return.

There are some bloody good females out there doin the job as good as any man could,there should be equipment/ppe to satify there needs. With a lot of young women coming into the industry i think it would be an investment in the future generation of arboriculture workers too start making products to suit females.

Check the gauze at the exhaust for excess carbon blocking it.

Pfanner gladiator vent are pretty much water repellent-not proof-which means you'll stay dry unless its pretty heavy rain,ive some oil stains on mine so theyre not oil resistant at all.As for holding up,id say they are by far the hardest wearing trousers ive ever bought,no problems with brambles or thorns...try not to put a hot pole pruner exhaust on the hip though...they will melt-as mine did...gutted...

Yeah lets not turn this into another brand debate please. You can pick up some bargains on ebay mate,ive bought lots of kit of ebay and its all been in good nick. Just make sure you only use people who have positive ratings. good luck buzz

Just pointing out what some employers would use to justify paying the guy less. I agree joe a course and a bit of paper doesnt make you instantly a better climber than others,personally if im takin a guy on to do a dismantle id want him to have cs41.

Depends on how good you are and your reputation locally.The better the rep you have the more you will be in demand and the wage will increase.If you have all your own kit and fuel/saws id say 120 ish a day but you dont have cs 41 dismantling and rigging so maybe 100 notes for an 8 hr day.
