Nope-i dont mate. I dont worry about "people on the street being in danger" People are in danger every day in every day life,im not gonna lose sleep over a company thats supposedly falsley advertising they have NPTC trained staff.

I said earlier in the thread,i dont care what other companies do,im only concernd with my team and what we do. Its up to a client to hire a reputable company and check references etc before they hire them to do the job.

Seemed a tad aggressive to me. Anyway back too the point,if you feel passionatly about it then do something about it. The problem with these sort of threads,and im not saying its a bad thread,is you will get as much advice one way as another and at the end you'll end up more cofused than when you started. Ive seen lots of cowboys,bad practice bad tree work etc. Ive also seen some guys/gals with no qualifications but a **** load of experience who are really proffesional and do top notch work. Qualifications aint the end all be all ye know

Simple fact is whatever you do apart from felling is going to be crap,reduce it or top it get paid and go home. Its what the client wants,get paid or someone else will. All you can do is advise ,if the client wants it reduced then do so

Yeah last 2 guys ive had on the ground have chainsaw crosscutting and climbing aerial rescue tickets. To be fair the guys tend to do small trees and hedges but any large trees or more complex jobs that come in im asked to do.

Ive just watched Kevin Bingam on Youtube and the rig and wrench system looks great for lowering branches/limbs but am i wrong in thinking its no use for chogging down stems?

Great answers and ideas guys thanks.Part of the problem is i rarely get the same groundie to work with so its starting from scratch each time.As you've all commented it takes experience and time to get to know the system,how many wraps,letting it run etc. Ive asked to bring my own guy in but got fobbed off.

Hi all, As well as working for my Local authority i also subbie for 2 local companies.I have a basic rigging setup capatan and block etc which i seem to be using more often of late. My problem is the ground guys i get are usually not used to rigging trees and have little to no knowledge of a rigging system. Its difficult to get guys good at lowering when i only work with them now and then.Is there any other system i could utilise to make it easier on the ground guys...xrings perhaps. Im open to ideas not critisism please Thanks folks

Just get a normal 5litre gerrycan and use a small funnel. Those clever no spill nozzles aint so clever-both mines broke...crap!

I have a neighbour,in the street opposite, who's asks me every spring to give him a quote to remove a cherry tree in his back garden.I see him most days and the tree's still there.He knows my price and if he gets round to asking me to do it i will.Ive never chased a quote,never will. If you've quoted a job and gave them your contact details its up to them from there to come to you. Just my view

Hitch climber with prussik loop on bridge

If your concernd about the system why not get a foot ascender rather than using an extension at your bridge.It works perfectly with the hitch climber setup The foot ascender will pull the slack through as you ascend. Hip thrusting is hugely inefficient and wastes a lot of energy imo -

Yeah ive did this,its fine as steve says as long as its a rated prussik.Look at the o rig aswell.Its the same idea as adding an extension at the bridge to your hitch climber but the system can be moved up or down to suit your climbing.Theres a thread on here about it,maybe some kind person will put up a link for you. -

I had a similar job a while back,2 conifer removals only access was through the house.I took pictures of the kitchen and hall before the job incase they tried to claim for damage when there was none.We simpley bought a big roll of polythene and used masking tape to attach it to the walls and floor making a half polythene tunnell to drag the brash through,it worked perfectly.
