  1. I'd put as much in as possible. Lasts longer that way. Should get more days out of it.
  2. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "willing" Youth today seems to want it all on a plate without having to do any graft and there's the reputed 'benefit street' mentality that says why work when I can get for doing nothing - and the handing down of these values. Some of it, however, could also be down to what's happened in the industry / sector. I wouldn't go into teaching now because of what successive governments have done to it. Its too controlled and measured and restrictive. Maybe construction is only looking for self employed or subby work and people want security? Possibly it's too short term - a shortage now while there are some mad builds going in and then they'll all get sacked off It annoys me when people moan that all the jobs are being taken by foreigners when the job shortage is so obvious yet no home grown workers are willing to go out and do the jobs.
  3. Rib of beef, massive yorkshires and all the trimmings. I'm getting good at making a roast.
  4. You'll need to clear some message space - it won't let me PM you
  5. Anyone else? I've missed the PM to / from Sean and its gettign close so need as many options as possible. I know what my fiancee will be using my saw for if I don't get something sorted :scared1:
  6. Groundies are always wanted anywhere but Bristol. FFS
  7. Anyone else? A bit of unprocessed firewood at 16-18" round will do. I'll happily slice it and sand it myself Willing to pay. Will collect within reasonable distance.
  8. There shouldn't be a pumping action. The disc seals should keep the piston where it is. If it's that bad then the pads are worn far too far. A lip on the disc is fine up to a point. As long as the new pads can bed against the disc they'll still work fine. I'd expect a couple of sets of pads per disc. There will be service levels in the handbook which can be checked if you really want to go that far
  9. Burgess - 3" would be awesome if you've got some!
  10. Where's the problem? I bought a standard chainsaw without any need to produce a C30/31, what's so special about a top handled saw?
  11. Evening I'm getting married in 5 weeks, and we've just about sorted everything except a cake stand. I'd really like a nice round 16-18" diameter couple of inches thick. Could be bigger I suppose, bottom tier of cake will be 12" Doesn't need to be fancy sanded or anything as the cake will be sat on a plastic board. I want something that will look nice Anyone got anything? Thanks
  12. Unfortunately you're 100 miles too far away
  13. The dog goes for a walk twice a day. She also like to go out first thing in the morning and last thing at night. There's a back corner she likes to go in. I was wondering about bark mulch and then thought about chip. I reckon it would work, clearing it and replacing it regularly.
  14. Cheers
  15. I always fancied a plasma cutter, and really miss having lost the nice mig to the ex in laws. Maybe one day I'll get to mess around fabricating stuff again. I've made a fair few creations :-)
  16. Not sure I'll be allowed out to a xmas meet up. I get married on the 5th!
  17. Cool. Would be cool t keep in touch if we're both doing the same course
  18. Are you doing it at a college or on-line? I'm looking forward to doing mine on-line with Capel, just as soon as I pay for it :-(
  19. I think it was installed about 2006 when the original cottage was renovated and extended. We bought it a couple of months ago, and during the conveyancing process the solilicitor noted a lack of documentation for the fireplace etc so the vendors got someone in to certify it retrospectively. I'm not sure how good that is or anything but it meant it all went through ok. I'm probably only going to burn wood in it, saves having to buy anything else although maybe some smokeless coal or similar to keep a fire in during the depth of winter - ward off the central heating from the old part of the house.
  20. My name is Matt, I'm 40 and I'm trying to make the move to Arb as a career. I've done my C30/31 last month. Planning on doing my C38 and possibly C39 as soon as I can afford it. I've enrolled in an on-line RFS Arb diploma. Looking for an opening into arb so one of the following opportunities (or any other offers): * Casual experience as a groundy - evenings and weekends any time. Posible days every now and then. Can't do days very easily as I'm still full time in another job or * Looking for a trainee position / semi skilled permanent position as a groundy to start. I'm even willing to save up and pay for my own C38 in the new year if it helps. Willing to travel up to an hour from BS35 area of Bristol (Cribbs Causeway/Easter Compton/Pilning) I don't have any direct arb experience but have some agricultural experience Lots of transferable skills: NPTC C30/31 Fast and proficient learner Practical skills including mechanical repair, fabrication, welding and electrical engineering Agricultural ground working skills including fencing, drainage and tractor driving Strong time management skills – able to work to deadlines and work flexibly to achieve goals Punctual Not afraid of hard work or working at any level Excellent customer facing skills in all environments Excellent communication skills at all levels using a variety of methods Good planning and organisational skills Able to work at various levels within a team situation, equally able to work autonomously Full clean pre 1997 driving licence I can send a CV if there's any interest. PM me for contact details - email, landline and mobile
  21. That plate says multi fuel liner
  22. By££er me. So it does. I've never noticed that. I was wondering why the book says 'set grate to wood' but never then said how!
  23. I actually found the booklet for it after my fiancée reminded me that the last people left a great folder of booklets. I found it under they installation certificate that I must have overlooked in the past. I'll check it for a measurement for the gap to the wall. The installation plate thing was done retrospectively during the conveyancing while we bought the house I take it that multifuel will be easier to keep a fire in overnight with some coal or similar?
  24. I think it looks great, and painting it for the kiddies is fine
