  1. Pictures (hopefully) Stove Flue plate
  2. We've moved to the countryside and have what we were told is a wood burner. I think it might be a multi fuel as it has a riddle plate, bottom air slide and an ash tray which I didn't think you got on wood burners. Is there anyway to tell for sure. It's also the one thing they didn't leave us a manual for I'm happy if it is wood as we have enough for at least one winter, but would like to know if we can stick other stuff on, maybe got later on to try and keep it on overnight
  3. I did a quick google. You need the original file and then the .srt puts subtitles over it. I think someone posted the text version transcript earlier
  4. It's not arb work but when I stay away with work its £15 overnight food allowance (receipted actuals) and that's it. It used to be £21 for food (no receipts required) and an extra £5 to cover incidentals (pint, paper, call home etc). Try getting a decent meal for £15 nowadays. Oh - no alcohol allowed so the wetherspoons beer and a pint are frowned upon
  5. I think .srt is only subtitles that can then be added on top of an existing video file
  6. I'm looking at ripping a load of crappy grassy things out of one corner of my back garden and laying a layer of something for the dog to crap on which then makes it her own space and easier to clean up. Would wood chip do? If so - has anyone got some near Bristol that I can have/buy. It would need to be able to be put into a Civic boot (in happy to scoop / shovel). Cheers
  7. What quals are you looking for? Experience?
  8. That will be one of the things I'll be pushing. I need to get hold of the ex in-laws to see if they'll be a reference
  9. My understanding was that it was a gross weight or train weight over 3,500 kg hence ranger, hilux, landy etc needing tacho
  10. Right I passed my C30/31 and there are a couple of jobs I'm looking at. They both want a CV sending across. I don't have a current one, so I'll try and write one tomorrow. What skills do I need to emphasise - they'll be all I have other than the C30/31 as I don't have much experience What would you be looking for in a CV from a prospective new member of staff?
  11. Woohoo C30/31 passed A couple of jobs on arbjobs so i need to spend the weekend writing a CV. This could be interesting Next week I have a meeting at work to see if they'll agree to me going part time If they do then I may be looking for days here and there to get some experience
  12. C30/31 assessment tomorrow and a few job adverts to ring about
  13. Diff casing? Isn't it cast iron, and then I think it needs heating first before welding so I'd say diff out first
  14. Yup AS far as I an remember only showmans guild and farmers are allowed to tow anything behind a trailer. They did look at proper road trains a few years ago but decided against it
  15. The starter motor earths directly to the engine/chassis
  16. Its C30/31 next week. I have basic ppe (boots, class A trousers, gloves and ground helmet) and a small home use saw. What would be the best starter kit to get? Wedges? Log hook? Timber tongs? Tool belt? Felling lever?
  17. I gave up about 6 years ago. Best advice I was given was that two nicotine replacement gives much more than twice the likelihood of success. I used patches and an inhalator and never looked back. I used to smoke roll ups and would smoke a 50g packet in a day or two. I'm still amazed i found it so relatively easy. The e-cig phenomenon seems to me to just replace one for the other, there's no idea to give up, just switch from one to another.
  18. Thats not a bad idea. Hope I can change course provider at this late stage :-)
  19. Ok C30/31 next week with Roland Fleming. Lookign forward to it. And it's payday :-) Should I book some other courses, chipper etc, or buy some kit?
  20. Talking to work next week to see about going onto a 0.8 contract and also working that as condensed hours. Effectively work 4 days in 3. Have 2 days spare to start gathering experience That's if they say yes.
  21. No. I want to go back to not having to earn £x per month or take holiday from a full time job to gain experience time. Or having to persuade someone that I'm worth employing at 40 with limited experience. I'm going to get there it's just really hard to make the leap
  22. Ideally I'd want to be on the books to start. I know there's no day rate in that. Surely subbing you'd need more tickets / quakes and experience. If only I was 16 again
  23. so what's a good rate for a day for someone with very little experience and, say C30/31 as the only ticket? Surely one day voluntary as a trial to show ability? Although there was someone on here looking for a day dragging brash etc offering £70 with no tickets.
  24. I've offered to work unpaid to get a chance to work with people in an industry I have no qualifications and limited experience of. If I was in the position of someone offering to work for me for nothing of take them up on it, and bung them what I thought they were worth at the end of the day.
