  1. Well I got away with it. The SWMBO took some blades in to be sharpened and never even asked what they were from - result. Well must say I don't know how on got on without an accurate table saw for so many years. I had a couple of straightforward boxing jobs to do. The saw was mm accurate and the angles are a breeze, made my work look half decent!!!
  2. Sharps Innova, yes I had one to, quite the innovation in its day, recoilless to, I had a Daisy befor that but it required over 20 pumps to prime. I always went with the .177 for feathers .22 for fur. I had FAC air rifles running around 40 Ft/lbs for a few years but as already stated the .22 rimfire was far cheaper and more versatile. After 30 odd years with FAC rifles and back in the day pistols to, I recently gave them all up and now just use the shotguns. I do still have a .177 12ft/lb at the back of the cabinet just for the garden vermin, and cos I just cant let that one go.
  3. Thank you, yes I will see what I can do. If you want to PM me I can email some that are complete and an idea of prices.
  4. No not at the mo, several people have said it would be a good idea though. Something I must get around to. Hoping to be able to devote more time to wood when I retire late next year. Having a decent on line business takes a lot of upkeep to make it work well and as I work full time it doesn't leave much spare time.
  5. what about a old fashioned tent this time of year better than a smelly works van surely? Very Ray MEARS guys always impressed with the effort some people will make for their work.
  6. I have put a small led in the stand on one or two, it didn't look too bad, I think I need to cast a couple with less pigment in to get the full effect. I have yet to cast one with an LED actually in the timber as this causes issues when turning - work in progress....
  7. Try Easy composites I use their water clear casting resin in my spheres, but they do resin specifically for deeper castings, tables, flooring, paths and everything else.
  8. Big nasty cat, works in our garden!!!!
  9. I recently needed to buy a replacement switch contactor, I wont mention the make of the bench saw as that would be unfair on the distributor. I contacted the main dealer as I was struggling to find a local electrical factors who could supply what I needed. Said agent indeed had the part and it was duly delivered within a couple of days at a cost of £79. In the mean time I found the same item from the German manufacturer, again delivered within a couple of days, the cost 3 euros plus 8 euros postage. Now I am all for companies making a profit, but this seems an extortionate mark up on the wholesale price.I thought about returning the first one but as it had been fitted I felt a little dishonest to do so, and as they are date stamped I didn't want to chance returning the second in its place..... Lesson learned.
  10. This thread made I chuckle....... I concur its an age thing.
  11. Thanks guys, I did try ordering from Germany but had issues with dispatch, I got an email saying dispatched, then one saying delivered, then a third saying return received........ all within a day. Some sort or language or clerical error. An ways bit the bullet and got the one from the dealers, turned up yesterday. I needed the Tripus make as the switch casing is designed to hold it in place via some moldings. Upshot it she works, the saw is up and running, and pretty darned good to, just need a bigger workshop now.
  12. Been scouring the interwebb to find this bl00dy switch, even the local electrical wholesalers said there are none in the UK (German machine) so reluctantly I went to the main agents, they have one...... £60!!! so had no option but to order. now those I found on the internet were around 25 euros (albeit out of stock) someone is making a huge profit on a small switch.
  13. How about the Norfolk Wherry trust, they have 2 or 3 traditional Norfolk wherries situated at Ludham, I am sure they could use or put you in touch with some one who could use them. They do all the repairs themselves so worth a call Address: Forsythe Wherry Yard, Horsefen Rd, Ludham NR29 5QG Hours: Open ⋅ Closes 5PM Tuesday 9am–5pm Wednesday 9am–5pm Thursday 9am–5pm Friday 9am–5pm Saturday 9am–5pm Sunday 9am–5pm Monday (Labor Day/Early May Bank Holiday) 9am–5pm Hours might differ Suggest an edit Phone: 01692 580402
  14. Ok so found it is a tiny piece of plastic broken off the electro mechanical switch - or at least that's all I can find, appears to not let the start button operate and kick in, took some pics into local electrical retailer and he is getting one in for me. Anyways hopefully that will sort it as the rest of the saw is in tip top condition, checked all the settings, fences, sliding table etc and all appear spot on. So not excuses for poor accuracy now. Also the good lady came into the workshop with a cold beer ( well trained) and never batted an eye, I think it must appear as"just part of the furniture"
  15. I have used Tru Oil for stock finishing and walking sticks, lovely finish but may be a little glossy for grips, but could be cut back with 0000 wire wool etc.
  16. I was unable to find anything in the instructions or limited info on the wonderweb about resets or safety features, just the usual NVR switch. I will have a poke in the innards tonight. nice saw though. Quiet. Lol.
  17. Ok all went well, delivered, mostly assembled before she arrived home from work, judicious use of a blanket ensured secrecy..... However, when I went out to eventually give it a test run aaaaaaargh nothing!!!!! No power to the motor, I have checked the obvious fuses, plugs, cables etc. all appear fine, so, any suggestions before I have to call a sparky. I have looked through the instructions which are of no help, just contact your dealer blah blah! No mention of a reset switch so I am hoping it is something simple to do with moving and rehoming. Or is the saw in "stealth" mode!!!!!
  18. Phew, thought I had missed a trick there
  19. Never thought about using Duct Tape to stop warping, does it really help?
  20. Ok its coming tomorrow, as luck would have it my car is in for some work so booked the day off, so should be able to unpack, assemble and play before SWMBO gets home. Sssssshhhhhhhh!
  21. I find the fruit woods are very prone to splitting, even when sealed and stored correctly...... Either that or I am no good at it. lol.
  22. So as luck would have it I fell on one of these, fully loaded with minimal hobby use. I am a fan of Scheppach and it ticked all the boxes, except maybe the space required. Palleted delivery this week while the SWMBO is at work, just need something to hide it under. Lol
