  1. Bit of a swine when it starts to swing down on full extension though. They're naughty, but nice!
  2. Just cut back the branches encroaching on the house. Don't complicate it.
  3. Wasn't being too serious Dave, just articulating some existential dread.
  4. What do any of us do when age taps us on the shoulder? Bit of garden maintenance, lawns, hedges the like. Maybe, as you say, drive a taxi, work in a factory canteen or become the leader of UKIP. We're all of us shuffling towards our inevitable doom. (Too dark?)
  5. Quite so Rich. I knew a guy back in the U.K. Ran a 4wd and trailer, low level garden trees, capable enough climber, made a living, paid his mortgage, fed his family, happy enough. Probably undercut the big(ger) boys on the Mrs Miggin's birch jobs. If you'd told him he was devaluing the industry, cutting his own throat etc. He'd have shrugged his shoulders and got on with paying the bills, as he should.
  6. Yet another "people aren't charging enough" thread. People can charge what they like. Same as in any service industry.
  7. Ha ha, just got it in before I plugged it in and went to bed.
  8. Next prime minister, you're aving a larf!
  9. Big tree for one of those. Questions. Did you leave the dead wood on the floor? What did you think killed it?
  10. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/large-equipment/107378-forst-st-8-starting-issue.html I'll echo the calling them up thing from Tom, they were very helpful. May not be connected to it, but the rogue batch of ignition barrels can cause some odd symptoms. (See above thread)
  11. Exciting times Pete. Great stuff.
  12. I had the same thing, took it back to the supplier, they gave it back ( after plugging it in to something) and it was fine. Take it back.
  13. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/99568-372xp-problem-full-throttle.html You can often find a similar thread at the bottom of the page of threads like this. Here it's the coil..
  14. I'd go for the lower hours newer machine. GM have great back up.
  15. You're right Mark, sometimes I just get carried away with righteous indignation and go a bit Old Testament.
  16. SCUMMMMM! Hangin's too good for 'em. They should be flayed daily, then made to read Vespasian's posts, one after another.
  17. In the end by the time you've taken it off, mucked about with it etc. You might aswell get a new one.
  18. Jb weld? I've fixed leaks on fuel tanks on chippers with it.
  19. God I hate raking! Power broom is ok for the small stuff.
  20. Douglas Fir removals. Standard stuff really. Timber lorry's spool valve split, which was a nuisance.
  21. Nice job Joe, trickywork, arsing about with tiddly bits in the rain. Looks good.
