  1. Every time I see this thread I always think.... Once properly seasoned, yes, a sparrow will burn nicely.
  2. TBH, I think they're both great saws, no pro would be found wanting using either one.
  3. Nice pics John, I take down a lot of cedars (deodars) out here. Nice trees to work on. Just got too big for the clients?
  4. Maybe, I'm fairly heavy handed with my toppers, rarely stow them on the belt, drag them around the tree etc. I had an early 540, terrific power but the chain brake snapped taking a part of the aluminum engine casing, I sold it to the guy that worked for me as the repair would have been pricey. One of my 201s will probably get replaced soon, I will probably get another 540 just to vary things. But I could change my mind on the day!
  5. Run 201s since the start, never had an issue with build quality.
  6. Don't fall for that mawkish nonsense in that post. It's cynical use of tragedy.
  7. All I'm saying is that they did their job, well done. It's what they joined up and have been trained to to do. I'm not being disparaging about them, I'm being disparaging about that anonymous post jumping on the fire for political purchase about fire fighters pensions, retirement age etc. For shame.
  8. I read it, fire fighters attend fire. Do their job. End of story.
  9. Big cat of St Albans caught on camera | Daily Mail Online Errr, it's a cat.
  10. Really odd self contradictory post:confused1:
  11. Not knocking GM Pete, just saying that all brands can have issues. I was referring to Stuart's 190 rather than the quad chip.
  12. Ask Ty Korrigan about his GM, bought at a similar time to my st8. No brand or machine is problem free all the time.
  13. Its disappointing, for sure, I took a bit of a gamble on my st8 as the suppliers are the other side of France and don't return my calls and seem to have gone into a big Gallic sulk. Redwood have been great, I've had some teething problems for sure, ATM things are running smoothly. For most of us the chipper is the most important money maker we have. The money stops rolling in the minute it stops working.
  14. I had exactly the same thing a few years back, ground out a HC stump and a bit later a call saying some suckers had popped up in the garden a good few meters away. He suggested digging it out and regrinding, I laughed in his face, told him to run the mower over them and it'd give up soon enough. As far as pops go I usually poison and go back when it's definitely dead.
  15. Bearing in mind I know nothing about it..... Surely if it's in a garage, out of the rain and dry (not just under a sheet outside) it won't gain any moisture whatsoever.
  16. Found this image under dryads saddle, does look similar, black centre and all.
  17. Ah, thanks for looking anyway. I can't ask him to go back.
  18. Get the 14" otherwise it's a waste of power.
  19. These picture appeared on my Facebook feed, a local walker took the pics, help me look knowledgeable (against the odds!) by identifying them. Pretty sure that the black ones are daldina concentrica or cramp balls. The bracket is a ganoderma, but what's the pancake one in the first pic? Thanks in advance.
