  1. You just sort of know after years and years of looking at trees.
  2. If you're planning on bringing the rest of it back to hedge height I'd give it a go. Young oaks are more resistant to heavy pruning than you might think. Was that the question?
  3. Sure it's not processional oak caterpillars?
  4. I rolled the rayco with the same engine, just replaced the air filter "mushroom" Put it on its side more times than I can remember. Just wait for the oil to go back down to the sump, start it up and crack on. yes, good looking conversion.
  5. To get out and get the chèque.
  6. Yes, when the wheel (nearly) fell off my 150 I winched it on, no issues.
  7. Very nice indeed. Looked a bit like a branch was wandering into next doors roof for a moment there.
  8. Tom, get some photos up then you might elicit some interest.
  9. No, you're right Mark, A big long hedge will cost as much to maintain per annum as a medium priced family holiday. Plus the clippings are difficult to dispose of. I hate them and rarely do them these days.
  10. Yes, to own slaves! That's what It says in the declaration of secession.
  11. https://www.civilwar.org/learn/primary-sources/declaration-causes-seceding-states You understand it wrong. Read the above link which shows the reasons the individual states wanted to secede. Slavery is the first thing mentioned in most of them. (thanks to Kevin Bingham)
  12. Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll all about.
  13. Paul, it's only a small step from that, to this...
  14. "The farm takes up most of the day, and I like a cup of tea in the evening...."
  15. Huck, you actually believe there are "sensible" answers in this thread?
  16. As a kind of breathing space thing, here's The Band performing The Night They Drove Ol Dixey Down. Which is a great song and kind of apposite.
  17. Decent result for him nevertheless. As long as she didn't sing!
  18. Good news music fans! Louise Redknapp has "rekindled" her love for music and is in the recording studio. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-4788388/Louise-Redknapp-planning-comeback-pop-music.html
  19. The saying is "what's sauce for the goose is sauce for...."
  20. A pet peeve of mine is when clients call you in and walk you around pointing at individual trees and say "what about that one? What do you think we should do to that?" So you run through a series of options ranging from doing nothing to taking it out all depending on what the client wants. Next tree "what do you think about that one?"
