  1. Understood Mark, but that’s where you’ve pitched yourself. Pruning, trimming small(er) removals. Its a lucrative area. If you’ve geared yourself up for removals, with a loader, bigger chipper etc. You would find the bigger money days are in that. You pays your money and you takes your choice.
  2. I look at it from time to time, I’m on it but rarely post anything. Most of the social media active tree guys are on there. Doesn't really float my boat.
  3. We all know that can happen. Comprehensive Allowance of Systems and Hyenas. (in answer to Huck)
  4. Ok thanks, my flail mower arrives in a week or so, good to know.
  5. Do you use Hi Flo on the grass cutter and flail mower?
  6. Saw this and thought of this thread. http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-41824821/the-men-who-save-cats-from-trees
  7. Good work, well done. I've done a couple, 1 successful (in that I I bagged it and took it down) 1 where it jumped (but was ok) A lot depends on how long it’s been up there, if it’s been up there days take some food/drink to lure it to the trunk. Also wear gloves.
  8. It’ll be more about whether you remove the grindings or not. Lime fluffs up and creates a big pile. Bricks aren’t that much of an issue.
  9. I cannot follow this narrative of the fragile 201, I’ve had two since 2012/3 and apart from broken handles due to them getting smashed in the line of work, they’ve held up marvelously. One has been replaced now by a 201tcm. I'm a hairy arsed baboon with gear as well.
  10. Well Dan, there you go, right tool for the job.
  11. I beg to differ, we touched up a Greenmech with a dremmel to instant effect, did them in situ.
  12. A careful touch up with a dremmel can work wonders, don’t go nuts though!
  13. Seems odd to me with your million hp mog/chipper and grab trailer etc. you worry about impressing clients by not having a ladder. ”did you see the way that chipper ate the whole tree in one go luv?” “that’s nothing, what about the way they didn’t use a ladder? That’s impressive!” (smiley emoji)
  14. Ok, try looking at some of the mulberrys, doesn’t tick all the boxes but quick growing, looks rather stately and permanent and seems hardy (I planted 2 in my garden)
  15. Most of us on here are European based so are not familiar with the amenity species in the US. Although im sure you’ll get some suggestions. But that is a lovely house BTW.
  16. Sometimes I’ll see something on a FB arborist site so mind bendingly stupid I feel I have to say something, then common sense prevails and I just move on. I feel a thread coming on......
  17. Agree with above comment. My 4mix stihl went kaput a while back, I couldn’t bear to part with €800 for a new one so I got an echo backpack one for €500 or so, It’s ok. It’s just a blower after all, 10minutes at the end of a job.
  18. Ringing down the last 15ft or so of a thick stick, stand on the ladder rather than your spurs. Still roped in of course.
  19. I’d be happy with all three machines, I’ve had GM, TW and Forst. I’ve also had a turntable chipper (arboreater) they’re ok but how much effort is it to slip a chipper off the hitch and spin it round? Answer, very little. I wouldn’t pay extra for a turntable, not fussed.
  20. Well I have one, can’t say I’m worried.
  21. Sorry to hear that Don, have you got a photo of Enzo?
  22. Trouble is with these threads is there is rarely any resolution. something simple like Sweet Chestnut maybe.
