  1. For TDs and the bigger stuff the husky battery saw gets to ride in the truck.
  2. Horse fly maybe Doug? Some Birch to re-top today. Clear and breezy, low 20s. Last day of this tomorrow, then back to proper spring.
  3. Did not realise that Stu. Thanks.
  4. Those capstan witches are like hens teeth.
  5. Early doors it’s easy going, no need for the winch yet, just grab and pull. IMG_1771.mov
  6. Not dissimilar for me, first of 2 days winching out stuff fallen in a river. Using the Avant, so on a smaller scale than yours I imagine. No chipping, customer clear up. I’ll document it for perusal later.
  7. Mornin’ Stubs, set fair for the week here. Just finished my customary second mug of tea. Better get off my arse and get the trucks sorted.
  8. My policy on this sort of thing is simple. I either take it out completely or I don’t touch the tree.
  9. I hear you. But tbh we have max 3 or 4 years left in this house. So that’s always a consideration in these decisions. For instance our asparagus bed ran out of steam couple of years back, not worth replanting new crowns as you have to wait 3 years to the first harvest.
  10. He’s not ‘on the hook’ You are.
  11. Clearly he’s not going to answer, you’ve made your point, so why don’t you do the forum (and yourself) a favour and stop asking?
  12. Well, I have to say I hadn’t considered the treated timber aspect of things, thanks for pointing it out. I did a bit of googling. Here’s a vid about it.
  13. Self employed small business owner, with one full time employee. Been in the business 30 years. Have zero problem these days with people remaining anonymous on here. If they break the rules Steve breaks out the ban hammer. Otherwise, it’s the internet with all that entails.
  14. Not any more. That lot cost only €200. I just don’t know how anyone can make money milling when the local Brico Leclerc is selling treated timber at that price.
  15. New “raised” beds. Slightly smaller area. Took the sheets off, added granulated manure, and rotovated. Pommes de terre planted today.
  16. He said they’re in Portugal 2 posts up.
  17. Make a bacon sandwich?
  18. It’s pointing out that your written opinion could easily be interpreted as crass.
  19. Just top them and cash the cheque.
  20. We used to get it delivered, he poured the sacks directly into the “bunker” from which it was transported into the house using the “scuttle”.
  21. You have a coal man who delivers it in sacks? Where do you live, 1955?
  22. Had throat cancer in 2014 I read. Always considered him a good actor.
