  1. With a 660, client is fine with some fence damage.
  2. If that’s what he wants then do that. Don't climb it.
  3. Finally a real thread about wood burners @BowlandStoves surely has to have a take?
  4. The 550xp is a modern classic, light, poky, reliable (well my 2 Mark 1s are) look no further...
  5. So no pics or videos, just a pdf file? Thanks, thrilling stuff.
  6. Agreed, they look superb. Get yourself a pulley as well that you can put up a tree still standing near the bank (even a couple of mètres up) this will ensure the tree lifts out of the water when you’re pulling it out.
  7. Out of curiosity, could you not have used a polesaw on that branch?
  8. Always a sad time, sorry to hear about it.
  9. Cats can induce extraordinary athletic feats from dogs.
  10. Igor breezes the Dolly Parton challenge.
  11. I run 2 550s and a 562 and a 560, damn fine saws. As for starting, don’t be afraid to use the impulse bulb, if it doesn’t start from warm immediately, treat it like it’s stone cold. Plus, learn to drop start if you don’t already.
  12. I was reducing a big lime in a churchyard and it was at the stage where the top was off (with a high tie in left in place) but not the sides so it looked a bit bizarre. I had a climber up the tree and the vicar came up and expressed grave reservations about what we were doing, “don't worry I said, it’ll be right” We were finishing up and he came back and apologised for his previous statement and congratulated us on the final job. I don’t know where it came from but from somewhere I quoted the Bible. ”there is more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents....”
  13. I might do, I missed the last one. I will make my mind up closer to the date.
  14. Should have forked out for multiplat you tightarse! Loved that stuff, really organic feel to the way the Blake’s worked on that rope. Felt nicer through the hand as well.
  15. Yes but that should be the companys problem not the customers. Its not fair to charge the client for 8 hours work when you have only done 4. If its 6 or 7 hours work then fair enough, charge for a day but not for half a day. You don’t charge for 8 hours work, you charge to do the job.
  16. FWIW I think that’s a macrocarpa but that doesn’t really affect your decision. Its clearly on its way home, but if you’re prepared to pay someone to strap it up or cable it or whatever, you could keep it for a few years yet. As has been asked, what’s the tree’s situation? If it failed what would it damage?
  17. I’m 56 now. Something an older friend said to me a good while back when we were talking about getting older. You leave your fifties as a very different man than when you entered them.
  18. Mate, I have no idea, so many variables, what do you normally charge them? Where in the country are you? You’ll have to figure it out for yourself.
  19. So what did you charge them? Are you clearing up the branches? Edit, didn’t see your last post.
  20. How many? Are those old pictures or have they already been done?
