  1. A retraction. Customer had one of these today and gave me a demo. Brilliant machine, could not believe what it was splitting. In fact I’m buying it off him once he’s done with it. Far better than my splitter on the Multione or the one on the back of the Kubota tractor.
  2. As long as it’s not repetitive, and the insults aren’t too personal, I can honestly say I enjoy reading a bit of a ding dong between members. This is a very different place to 7/8/9 years ago, there are now all sort of other platforms where you can share and discuss tree work. I often hear how it’s more toxic now than before, I disagree, in my experience it’s always been a bear pit, and if you come looking for a row, you’ll find one.
  3. Within reason it gives me a good laugh. Check out the Comic Relief thread on the search facility, pure Friday night gold.
  4. David, ‘twas ever thus. Lot more rows in the old days in fact.
  5. Not much really, got a bit of a laugh out of it, but that’s it.
  6. It’s the idea of ‘educating’ clients that always rubs me up the wrong way. What I do if a client wants something done that would be construed as wrong is I say ’thats a little harder than I’d normally recommend, there could be a problem for the tree or it’ll look a bit shit if we do that’ then if they’re sure, just do it (or don’t) don’t ‘educate’ them.
  7. Continuing the 90s movie theme.
  8. They clearly have never watched Austin Powers then.
  9. I think the suspicion is that OFR’s presence here (and his regular posting of videos) is just to get traffic to his YT account to make it paying.
  10. Where did @Retired Climberask for advice?
  11. Nice tree, but I hate deadwooding, gutty, hard work, and there’s always that bit you missed!
  12. I think you’re confused, I know I am. There’s a difference between what you pay the guy and what the client is paying YOU for the guy. That’s the profit. 90 quid on top for two blokes is nothing, you’ll be losing money.
  13. Exactly. There has to be profit on top.
  14. Ok, well equipped for domestic arb. I’d say go for it if you have the work. Many years ago I tried running two gangs but the work petered out so I knocked it on the head. Good luck.
  15. Interesting post. What equipment are you running atm?
  16. I would stick to a knockabout on a smaller loader, significantly lighter and more versatile.
  17. Get a Renault express or a fiat doblo or whatever, pull your chipper and tools around with that, save the 3.5 for overloading with chip/logs.
  18. If it’s Ponticum it’s fair game, invasive and a right bastard.
  19. 3.5 tonners are a gift from God. Get one without any toolboxes and a decent chip box and you’re in business. We may be moving up later in the year to a bigger lorry but thé 3.5 tonner has served us well.
  20. More context, and better spelling please.
