  1. I have said this before, but. You know Arbtalk is social media right?
  2. An awful lot of silly generalizations about people’s ages and abilities.
  3. I positively enjoy the sight of expensive cock-ups from have a go heroes. Helps people focus their minds when they see my quotes.
  4. I liked the look of the Giant, but ended up with a Multione. Plenty of threads on here about them if you use the search facility.
  5. The boars are powerful animals, they’re in our fields oftimes turning it over looking for worms. I am pretty sure it’s them turning over my chip pile looking for stag beetle larvae. I understand that too many is an issue but I love seeing them and having them about is a privilege.
  6. People leave because the internet has changed, FB, Instagram has hoovered up the new génération. All the triple ellipsis in the world won’t change that.
  7. I see that now, regrowth/growth is tighter and denser than you’d see in SE England or France, must be the climate, wind, cold etc.
  8. What sort of tree is that @Stephen Blair?
  9. Still hunting here David, are you sure your lot have stopped?
  10. I see you have toast, coincidentally, I also like toast.
  11. Keep the hi lux and tow the chipper, ladders, saw etc. with that. Don’t get a crew cab tipper cos it reduces your capacity.
  12. I know Kevin but this one still has legs.
  13. Yeah yeah, things are tough all over. Good thread this, let’s stay on track svp.:)
  14. To me that’s ridiculous, either do it to the boundary or don’t, saying ‘let’s do a bit and have a look from there’ is doubling the work, both for the tree crews and the homeowner who will inevitably be unsatisfied with the lesser option and will have to wait months/years, plus jump through more hoops to get what they want.
  15. My attitude to a 3.5 tonne tipper is its there to carry a 1250 odd kilos from A to B. Paying double the money won’t let you carry more, tow more, or get you there any faster.
  16. I agree about the greedy boards on a hi lux, that and a potato fork work well. I have run transits for 20 years, nothing but love for them. In reality you’ll likely be overloaded most days. Study the numbers on the plates of the vans, learn what they mean and do your sums.
  17. Surprised he made it to 60. Brilliant, brilliant player. If you get the chance to watch the documentary about his time in Napoli do so, it’s superb.
  18. But you would dictate the scope of the work entirely?
  19. Therein lies the rub. Certainly from my experience in the UK TOs are not on the side of the homeowner, or the contractor (understandably so) If you can circumnavigate them legally (ie. Get it done before they are aware of it) it’s worth doing.
  20. Yes I have one, terrific saw.
  21. Buy two scabbards, cut the nose off one and slide it all the way down to the power head, then put the complete one over the rest.
