  1. Learnt the basics at Kingswood, spent some time with @bigtreedon then he came over here. Learnt a lot about SRT from YT and Don. Yes, I’m keen for him to use modern techniques. Why not? I’m 58 this year, I’m not the future, I’m on the home straight now.
  2. Certainly gives us all more time to argue and get snarky on here, happy days!
  3. Certainly made me think, seeing it first hand, I very rarely do this end réduction type of work over here, which is where I think it excels. On dismantles it’s much of a muchness tbh.
  4. Trainee climber (my nephew) using SRT to tickle up an oak.
  5. Hell awaits me cos I laughed.
  6. These hats with the inbuilt LED lights. Chargeable in your phone charger, great for winter mornings loading vans etc.
  7. Big tree alright, I can see why the council don’t want it removed. Nice area, amenity value, all that jazz.
  8. Go for the subsidence/damage to property angle. Got à picture?
  9. Load of nonsense, Tree of the Year my hairy arse!
  10. Sadly, they’re not hardy enough for the UK, so not available....soz.
  11. Use Cobra bracing. I have this in my garden.
  12. What’s the deal on rope? Ordering it up and they’re trying to flog me the no stretch rope, I mean it’s good and all but you can use any rope can’t you? @openspaceman @Vedhoggar @aspenarb
  13. I think the guy is allowed to recount his positive experiences with his machines here, threads develop and change. Plenty of other issues in the industry have come under discussion in this thread.
  14. We’re enjoying ourselves.
  15. I’m defending the lightweight chipper. They have allowed the smaller outfit to take a chunk out of the big boys bottom line. Peeps like Khriss console themselves with thinking that it’s cos they are all Tarquins or Do as you likeys.
  16. Not one insult has been uttered.
  17. That horse has not only bolted, it’s crossed the field, left the farm and is currently galloping off into the sunset. I reference my ownership earlier in the thread. My point is that the ST8 is not a lightweight chipper, built to come in under an advantageous weight limit.
  18. So you’re saying the ST8 is built to weight restriction? It has the same engine as a 230 (the v1505 Kubota) admittedly with a turbo which must be an extra 5 kilos or so and yet weighs 450kg more.
  19. Before I answer, please clarify your point.
  20. Well, stuff happens I guess, we can only talk about our own experiences and that of others we know.
  21. Done it a hundred times, if you clear the torq drive hole out thoroughly and clean and put a bit of that no slip stuff on it, no problem.
