  1. Clearing grindings is a logistical pita.
  2. They’re ok for grindings, but compacted stuff that you run over with the machine is too stubborn. One of those rubber flapper things for the Kombi tool is a more effective clearer upper, then finish with a blower. Just my 2c.
  3. Twice a year is hardly pestering.
  4. Nothing wrong with a bit of hustle.
  5. That’s the one, very good comparison.
  6. 23 cm, 75hp tier 4 engine. cannot load link, just YouTube Schliesing 485ex, my channel should appear.
  7. I should have stayed with TW. Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda as they say. Forst good as gold at the moment I hasten to add.
  8. There’s a great video of an TR8 side by side with a tracked 280, there’s little between them production wise, it’s the reliability that interests me.
  9. Paid €19000, would take €17000
  10. I run the little picco chain on my echo, but sharpen it with a 4mm file, much easier. Cuts good.
  11. Didn't you say the Schliesing is for sale though Mick? Dropping back to rely on the Forst? Looking to run one chipper, in an ideal world it’ll be a TW280. Schliesing sits idle too much, Forst is behaving itself lately after rebalancing the rotor disc and replacing the top roller motor shaft, it’ll be paid off in a month after 5 years, so time for a rethink.
  12. I’m pretty sure they’d hang up on me if they phoned me asking about my chipper.
  13. Terrible joke, but I laughed.
  14. Can’t vote if you’re on the app apparently.
  15. I’ve got a Schliesing 485 that’s going up for sale soon, 75hp on a turntable, plus you can get nuts and bolts to fit! Just à thought.
  16. What would you say @Khriss? Do you think it’ll filter across the whole sector or remain purely in the aforementioned public/utility part? Anyone been in this situation where they’ve left a firm that enforces it and joined one that doesn’t? Were they able to keep up with other climbers?
  17. Anyway, to move it along, judging by the poll and what’s been said, it seems there’s a two tier system at play Independent smaller firms largely ignore it and larger companies tend to enforce it, so what’s the future hold? Younger guys coming from the bigger companies to work on their own or for the independents dropping its use or bringing it over?
  18. Well, I’m not swearing on the Golf connection, the guy who worked for me said that when we changed them out, but the keys and barrels are the same as my Forst. Straight off the shelf.
  19. The ignition barrels (maybe) are the same as VW golf barrels, easily available at motor factors. I have a Schliesing and it’s the same.
  20. No, no personal injuries on that job, I got sacked after a few months anyway. It was a very familiar story though at that time (mid 90s) undertrained guys out of their depth on LA contracts. I have every reason to believe it’s the same now. I remember you once said it takes you three years from complete beginner to capable climber before you’ll let a guy go out in your van, with your companies name on, unsupervised to do work in your name. Many others aren’t so scrupulous.
  21. I was that guy Bob, turning up on jobs in central London with 50 mètres of triple plat, à Willans harness and a couple of stoners in the the van, looking up at something way out of my skill set. So I got on with it and expensive mistakes were made.
