No, not sure if he ever addressed me by name, although he knew it. Strange guy, had an air of silent menace. He’d come in late afternoon, insist on buying us a drink, no argument. No chat, no laughs, once asked me during the 98 World Cup if I’d seen who was in goal for Nigeria, I replied (in a South African accent) ‘some black fella’ which got a few laughs…..he didn’t laugh.

Did a little research (just googling around of course) It wasn’t an either/or situation, it was Griner or nothing, Paul Whelan is being held on espionage charges and his release wasn’t on the table. Its diplomacy not a pick’n’mix.

So now it’s ‘she’! It’s not about what I think, it’s what you write ie. ‘she he oddball freak’ referring to her as ‘it’ You saying all that because she has different views to you on politics? I know what you’re thinking, what’s with the two stupid branches? Well, the client was a bit of a mind changer if you know what I mean. We were going to take the left stem down to a totem pole (which we did in the end) but the day before he decided he wanted branches left to look more natural. I told him it would look stupid, it would make the job more difficult, lowering everything to avoid the branches, and that he’d likely change his mind but he was resolute. I had organised subbies and everything so instead of just walking away I said ok. In the end he agreed and we just cut those branches off!
