  1. Surprised if it’s under 10k over here. For hedge removals that would be incredible.
  2. Just seen the video in the Avant site, I see how it works now. The grab pulls the trunk onto the blade in the middle, how simple is that?
  3. What diameter will it cut? I know @kevinjohnsonmbe has one for his MO.
  4. Nice job on the cedar, but grim work to do.
  5. Got you you bastard! Sitting on the chipper!
  6. Where did I leave my flask last night? Its like play school here. Is it in the pick up? Noooo! Is it in the transit? Noooo! Is it in the workshop? Noooo! Did you bring it in the house ready for the morning? Of course not that would require the sort of planning that has eluded me for 58 years. The hunt continues..
  7. I use(d) this rather more beefy specimen on exactly the same winch on my 35hp Kubota (that you should have bought) Did some amazing pulls. I found that the forces at play are quite extreme so.. A. Be certain to stay out of the triangle. B. Be aware that your anchor point can fail, so a 12” diameter birch can get uprooted even if your strop is very low. C. Strops, ropes and even chains (well that’s a bit of an exaggeration) need to be tip top. (fantastic set up for arb, never found wanting for power)
  8. Got a bloke on another thread (Mark Yeater) telling us Autumn is the best time.
  9. I have never cleaned one. The leather padding gets lost fairly soon and then it’s just plastic which doesn’t absorb moisture.
  10. Have you ever been a beater on a shoot?
  11. You don’t know what you’re talking about, beaters do it for the day out, the chance to give their dogs a run, the lunch and the fresh air. No one (apart from me at 13 years old) did it for the money, the beaters and the guns sat together at lunch, no one was treated as a pleb in the two shoots where I was a beater. I’m not a fan of pheasant shooting in hindsight, for various reasons, but treating it as a class thing is a mistake.
  12. Ah, I am a lad of the Weald, feet in the clay.
  13. How is it subjugating as many people as humanly possible?
  14. Had one in a Defender, good tow tug, plenty of torque, achieving respectable speeds on motorways is the issue. It is an old engine, bear that in mind.
  15. Those Robomowers are getting very popular out here. The underground wires are another hazard to avoid if possible.
  16. Really? That’s interesting. I see a few on our dog walks out here. There’s another one I see with different colours, I’ll get a snap tomorrow.
  17. There is a tendency for niche activities contributors (like ours) who have many followers on IG or whatever to get giddy with the virtual pats on the back and believe that people need to hear their take on current events.
  18. Get an otter box or similar for your smart phone.
  19. Sort of wish I’d thrown a few quid at the TW and kept it.
  20. Agreed, why put hours on an expensive loader when a much cheaper mower will do it better and cheaper?
  21. When I lost 2 or more weeks after the Schliesing’s hydraulic pump went south. Made me realise (after I’d got through all the non chipper jobs) that you have to have a back up. As it goes, I am quite fond of it, under 750kg so anyone can tow it, couple of niggles to sort out and obviously no match for a 75hp machine, but I’m quietly pleased with it. It’ll always fetch decent money and keep me earning when the inevitable breakdowns happen.
  22. Well it worked fine for the rest of the day so I’ll just leave it and see if it reoccurs. Thanks all.
  23. Ok thanks, it’s running ok now, always niggles with used machines.
