  1. Re. Chinese influence in Africa. I think the Africans look more kindly on the Chinese taking their raw materials in return for some infrastructure as opposed to colonial western powers who just took it, called them primitives and fooked off when they’d had their fill.
  2. I was very happy with the Uniforest, sold it now, but did a lot of good stuff. It had a manual, string type operation which was a bit Heath Robinson but much cheaper than the hydraulic operated version.
  3. It’s a free market economy. There’s loads of arb jobs about, all round the world. No one is trapped, if you think you’re not getting what you’re worth, there’s never been a better time to change.
  4. Just use eco plugs and have done with it. A cordless drill and a cardboard box and you’re sorted.
  5. How are you planning on extracting the roots?
  6. Education no, that’s an indicator of social demographics. Educational achievement such as a masters degree is a pretty fair indicator of intelligence.
  7. Therein lies the rub. Don’t work for those people is the answer.
  8. Birch doesn’t give out sucker regrowth, maybe a bit from the stump initially, but that’ll come to nothing. Sycamore will sucker from the stump, but not from the extended roots like Poplar or acacia. As Stubs says, a grinder will solve your problems.
  9. So that’s about right? Jeepers!
  10. This is in a Scats country store type shop, so obviously going to be a bit pricey. But took my breath away a bit. Told the wife that she’s very lucky to have a husband who has free, dry firewood aplenty. She said there has to be some advantages to living with me, which is fair comment.
  11. Best of luck to Cassie.
  12. Not every time, that would be exhausting. But when post easily disprovable bollocks, I will point it out. Watching BBC news right now, report on the pipeline leaks as I write. Fwiw (very little) I can’t see why the Russians would sabotage the pipes. All they have to do is turn the taps off to achieve the same result, why bother blowing them up or whatever? More likely the Yanks or even the Ukrainians, they’ve most to gain.
  13. Add it to the Tories if you like.
  14. First page on the BBC news website, after a hurricane in the US and Russia annexing some bits of the Ukraine. Not sure what more some people want
  15. Agreed, polls are if not meaningless, then transitory at best. But a new PM should really have a bit of momentum behind them. Bit of a dead cat bounce more like in this case.
  16. Like it or not, change is coming.
  17. That’s a depiction of the Vikings attacking Lindisfarne, I remember reading about it as a kid. Sealed their reputation as a bad lot, even a thousand years later it is still a bit shocking.
  18. I think if the guy put pictures up and followed up a bit, the thread would have retained a bit of purpose after initial interest. I suppose if he’s not that fussed, neither is anyone else.
  19. New new to the internet?
  20. Pavement isn’t a description it’s a noun. Maybe sidewalk is a better word than pavement, but footway isn’t a word at all.
  21. Moonbats out in force I see.
  22. Just a fwiw. I had a breakdown on the forward rollers on my 485ex, local ag dealers too busy, and even if they did have time they tend to take forever as the machine is alien to them. On the blower to Dave at Overland who spent time thinking and going through the possibilities with me. left me 4 or 5 things to check, I go through them and find that one of the control buttons isn’t working right (not on/offing with each press) so I bypass it and it works a treat. All on a machine they never sold me, in a different country, and me being an idiot and everything. After service is key, make it a factor in your purchases.
