  1. They’re great, I love ‘em. Cheap as chips to run, anyone can drive them and they carry a decent tree’s worth of chip then another run for the rakings and rubbish. God’s gift to the small business.
  2. Nearly every chipper I’ve owned needs one of those! As it goes this throttle cable system is the same as the GM. Simply tightening up the 8mm bolt will usually do the job.
  3. It’s the diesel 35hp with the Kubota v1505 motor.
  4. Ha ha, you suckers will grab any bit of nonsense from the hated ‘MSM’ if it helps you believe the lies you were told.
  5. This was my first 6” TW, bought in 2004 a little while before moving out here. Sold it before getting the Forst ST8 which nearly put me in an asylum. I’m hoping this one proves as good a money maker. Today was “first day with the new chipper day” A very important day that should be filled with joy and astonishment at what it’ll do, today was just that. I feel like I’ve got back with an old girlfriend and you think to yourself “why did we ever split up?”
  6. Well to round the story off, I went back to the UK to get the diesel one. My nephew drove it down to Sussex, so I met him there and took the chipper. Got back home Saturday night, bit of a palaver but done now. Conclusions. The chipper is superb, a level up from the GM 150, really pleased, great fork crushing power. The Schliesing will come out only on the really big jobs from now on. FWIW dealing with John Mason was a pleasure, a bit more organising than the usual purchase with export certs and the like, all dealt with quickly and without fuss. A very happy bunny here.
  7. They’ll say no (imo) If they said yes and a branch sprung up and injured you they’d be ramifications.
  8. Isn’t there a degree of personal responsibility in all this? What do you want, a ban on unhealthy foods? Stricter restrictions on alcohol sales? What are your solutions?
  9. Hasn’t that always been the case? I seem to recall life expectancy in Scotland has always been lower than the more affluent areas of England.
  10. I’ll take your word for it. My pôle pruner seems to get through the wood pretty quick mind.
  11. The 4-mix pole pruner and hedge cutter are really good. I’ve often wondered why they don’t put one of them in a saw.
  12. When I retire I’ll have some little car from new. I’ll never have to open the bonnet!
  13. Big difference is the saw comes to you. Trees don’t come round my house to be trimmed/cut down.
  14. Leaving for the UK Stubs, you in France?
  15. It’s not a hill I want to die on Spud.
  16. They’re too loud, if you’re a logger in the PNW fair enough. If you’re topping lombardies in Chipping Norton….
  17. Not in agreement about ported saws, but a few hundred extra quid for the best you can get is well worth it imo.
  18. Paying a couple of payments on a machine if one decides to bunk off work is doable. What to do with an employee is a far bigger conundrum.
  19. Was a bit daft, agreed!
  20. Not normally one to talk money. But I bought it outright, no credit.
  21. I had 1 issue with the other Ranger, which was fixed. Why would it go wrong any more than an old banger? I spend enough time fixing stuff, I want a smart powerful pickup that is tax deductible, impresses clients and is a pleasure on the motorway. I’m off to the UK tomorrow to pick up a chipper, driving up to the channel in air conditioned comfort, cruise control, heated seats, all mod cons.
  22. I buy a new one.
  23. Three year warranty on my new Ranger. Those last century pickups were not powerful enough to tow a 3.5 tonne trailer any distance.
  24. Well yeah, but my old hilux would not have got out of second gear pulling the loader on a trailer.
