    I got Pferd files off amazon, think they were nearly a tenner each !! They do seem to last tho.

    I have to agree time to get a professional in and get it down. I assume Tulip is decent timber and you could get it milled and made in to something nice.

    Its in South Africa in the Western Cape region, they have had a severe drought and the non-native pines remove huge amounts more from the water table than the native plants, so actually the natives are likely to be more drought resistant and just better environmentally all round. Another ecosystem messed up by planting invasive non-native species. Bet fire wood prices hit rock bottom tho !

    Back to the topic of making saws safer, would a sort of dead mans handle device on the front handle be a good idea to stop idiots using saws 1 handed ?? ( although I bet we've all done it). As this is what the young chap who started the thread was looking for. Might be good for home owner type saws where there is often a temptation to stretch out just to get that last side branch !!

    I kind of agree with you except that you aren't "lucky", your smart and sensible. Your safety should have nothing to do with "luck".

    By the way if my sensor idea ( idiot or pressure) does have legs and you sell it to Husky or Sthil I want 50% ! You all heard it here first.

    Can’t see that it would be difficult to engineer a simple circuit that the user makes when holding the front and rear handles and cuts the motor if you let go of the front handle without the chain brake on. Might even keep Stubby out of prison ! ☠️

    On a serious note you could put a sensor in the front handle that cuts the motor out if you try to use it one handed. Seen dopes do that a fair few times.

    A common sense detector fitted to the handle ! Stops the saw starting if your an idiot.

    Went on a course locally and the chap running it asked us to put a sticker with our name on it on the most dangerous part of a chainsaw, so we all put it on the chain. He told us to take them off and stick them on our forehead as we were much more dangerous!! It helped us all get on on the course that day and I’ve never forgotten that I’m responsible for my own safety.

    I use an old wheelie bin with no lid. The lid kept getting caught on stuff.

    Yesterday 4 degrees @ 7.30 today 14 degrees !

    Bright and sunny today but the place is soaking, and its only 4 degrees.

    Heavy squally showers all day and it’s freezing, summer has turned very abruptly in to winter with no obvious autumn.

    Hammered down last night here too, dry this morning but everywhere is soaking. Puddles in the fields.
