  1. First thought was total disbelief I’ve walked past that tree hundreds of times, whoever did it knew how to fell a big tree ! Miserable wankers ! Pity it didn’t land on whoever did it 😢😡
  2. Stormy last couple of days here in Jersey. nice today
  3. Friday and off for a weeks hols tomorrow !
  4. Dan and Stubby are bang on, don't use the horrible metal wedges either, they are rubbish, just make one up yourself and knock in with a wee bit of PVA glue on it too.
  5. Glorious blue sky and sunshine on Jersey. 26 forecast but light sea breeze makes it quite comfortable. Sadly I'm in doors till 6pm !!!!
  6. Same here on Jersey
  7. Eucalyptus burns hot and is good firewood but needs to be logged and split almost immediately as once it drys out a bit it’s awful to split. Got a small supply from a garden I helped to clear a few years ago, it was good but I don’t like the fact that nothing lives in it or on it. Kind of like rhododendrons and look at the problems they cause !
  8. 50mph wind and lashing on Jersey ! Worst summer in the Channel Islands anyone can remember !
  9. Sycamore can go a bit mouldy if you don't take care too, was told it is to do with the high carbohydrate content in the sap as it dries. Guess that's why they get syrup and birch water from these species.
  10. A good mix of wood is the best so you get the best of each type, just make sure its dry !!
  11. If you are just starting out then go Fiskars, they can't be beat for quality at that price point.
  12. Someone at work mentioned that name too
  13. Summer oops typo.
  14. Stenhousemuir CC back in the day , and yes cricket is played in Scotland, rugby in the winter and cricket in the winter. Enjoyed the pies and pints !!
  15. Had an artic cat 700cc diesel quad a few years ago was a great bit of kit. Right up to the day it got nicked ! 😡
  16. Another vote for bay. Recently cut 1 back savagely and it has bushed up lovely.
  17. The snooker got delayed too!
  18. Me too he was my favourite
  19. does that include delivery ?? LOL.
  20. I’ve a grand experience of 1 monkey puzzle, it wasn’t very big either. Sap was messy but cleaned off without to much bother. Think I used neat petrol but it was a while ago and my memory is hazy with the passing years ! Lol 😂
  21. I used old army surplus and ebay barbour coats for years, always bought cheap. Best I've ever been is warm and damp, which is better than dry and roasted(super sweaty) or wet and cold ! Sadly nothing perfect and wear and tear in arb is very high so stuff gets knackered really quick. I guess its trial and error and finding your personal "Goldilocks" position out of wet/cold/hot .
  22. My father in law made a lovely rocking horse out of sycamore, it too a light staining and polished up lovely, sadly don't have a photo and my ex-wife took it in the divorce !!
  23. Lancia or Alpha Romeo !!!
  24. Yeah cut your losses and buy a new chain and some new sharp files, you'll just do your head in working with that old bust up chain with rust files. Spend a few bob for your mental health !!
  25. I'm a full PPE wearer all the time every time. My old dad ingrained it in to me and I would never consider not using it. In my view its just not worth risking your life and limbs.
